Will Someone Explain?

When I was in school I was on all of the teams: football, basketball, baseball, and track. I liked (loved) playing all of them.

After I left school I never became a fan of any of them. I never watch basketball, I never watch baseball, I never watch track events, I sometimes will watch the super bowl game.

While I enjoyed playing; I have absolutely zero interest in watching a bunch of strangers engaged in playing a game.

One of my friends is a fanatical fan. His whole life is centered around sports. He eats, breathes, and 90% of his talk is about sports. Basically all sports. I know that there are literally hundreds of millions of avid fans of one sport or another.

Will someone explain to me why they are avid fans and why they think they are so many avid fans?

I think one reason is people like to see their school, city, state, country, etc. beat other peoples school, city, state, country, etc.

For many people it goes beyond just casually watching on TV, and supporting a team becomes an actual hobby.

It's something to do. Many hours per week can be spent watching TV coverage, reading reports, listening to the talk radio shows, collecting stuff, running a fan site, etc...

Also, years ago I used to be a huge Bulls fan. I watched every single game, and I kept track of stats on home-made stat sheets. This was before stuff like this was widely available on the internet, so I had fun doing it.

I know exactly how you feel, Ican't be bothered to watch a porn movie. But I'm always trying to get laid.
