Ok if your doing work but being paid with content, products etc... what is fair?
Im helping a guy out with some marketing and for payment he is giving me product (DVDs) that I currently sell on my site. Most people would charge maybe $3,000+ for this job Im doing but Im only charging him $1,500 worth of product at his cost so he is saving over $1000. Here is the catch though... If I were to buy the products direct from him $1,500 worth would cost me around $6,000.
So my question is at what price is fair? If he gave me even $3,000 worth of product at my cost (not his) it would only be like $800 or so out of his pocket which seems unfair. So either way one of us is getting hooked up, shouldn't it be me since he is already getting a good deal in the first place?

He's giving you the work of selling or utilizing the content; therefore he should pay you in merchandise at cost if he is unable to pay you a fair value in cash.

I think getting $6000 worth of products for $3000 worth of work is fair.
