Remember: It's in a contractors best interests to prolong development. It makes them more money. :)

Hell Canada will be on the moon launched with a piece of swiss cheese before the US goes again.

NASA became a typical big government bureaucracy. They cannot do anything right or efficient.

Look at what Burt Rutan has been able to do with a lot less resources and time.

bknoob 08-31-2006 10:33 PM

interesting point you got there.. makes me think.. Time to dig up some wikipedia articles :)

If GFY was developing a space shuttle

2010:
Lockheed: "No we're not done yet."
NASA: "Why not?"
Lockheed: "We can't figure out how to get the.... uh.... imancipator module to .... erm... interface with the .... uhhhh... air cooling SAFETY unit."
NASA: "Oh. Well continue then. Safety is our biggest concern."

2015:
NASA: "Hey, just checking in. Haven't talked to you guys in awhile."
Lockheed: "Oh... HI. Yeah. We're.... we're good. I guess. Got a bit of the flu."
NASA: "Oh how is that space module thing going? Remember you had a deadline of 2008... :x"
Lockheed: "Yeah. Oh... right. Well we're still having SAFETY concerns with the lead intake buster on the port valve. It's a doozie. We will get back to you on progress for sure."

--- In the mean time, private industry has colonized the moon, and are sending vacationers out as far as Venus --

2020:
Nasa: "Okay guys we are getting some minor pressure from the Government. Nothing major but we need a prototype or something."
Lockheed: "Yeah we have one. Hang on."
Nasa: "..."
Lockheed: "It's... hm where did it go... *clunking in background*"
Nasa: "Hm find it?"
Lockheed: "Yeah...oh nevermind that's my daughters laptop."
Nasa: "Oh. Well can you send it over when you get it? We really need it now."
Lockheed: ".... brb gotta take my wife to the mall she lost her license."

2025:
NASA is disbanded due to government stoppage of funding. The official announcement? Government should not control space exploration and research.

ry0t 08-31-2006 10:41 PM

I don't understand why we can't use the same technology back then to go to the moon again? We should be able to re build what we previously had and then try again. I know it's old technology that's not my point. That's why I have doubts about the moon landing. Why is that?

GatorB 08-31-2006 10:41 PM

Ok if it was faked the USSR would have known and they certainly would have shown the world the proof that it was faked.

Back in the 60's ther wasn't any budget contraints. We HAD to get to the moon before 1970 to keep JFKs dream alive.

Also this new ship is reuseable so it's a completely different technology so it has to be tested. This thing also holds 6 as compared to 3 for Apollo. And the first launch is in 8 years not 14. You think the first time we are going to try this thing is when we send them to the moon?

As far as Mars. If this technology works then it can be used as a basis for a Mars misssion.

Sure if we just wanted to put 3 guys in a tin can on top of a old Saturn V rocket and send them to the moon we could do that right now. I think we are looking for something more advanced.

E$_manager 08-31-2006 10:53 PM

Don't think of it too much or will get some nerveouse desease.

Rochard 08-31-2006 10:55 PM

You guys aren't too bright. It will take them ten years to come up with a plan first.

You haven't proven that man hasn't landed on the moon.

Prove that man hasn't landed on the moon or STFU

oh and there's the small question of the laser reflecter Armstrong left on the moon to keep time with the atomic clock... it reflects daily http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2004/21jul_llr.htm

Which proves either:

1) That the people voting for 'it was a fake' were taking the piss, or

2) The average IQ of your typical GFY conspiracy nut is on a par with a not very bright chimp

My money is on option 2

I know, a slight exaggeration but really... how many people does it take to pull off a 2 person short film?

Keeping mind that even most the CIA pulls off missions while on a "need to know" basis only.

No offense but thats the most idiotic thing i read on gfy all week.

Seriously, they will ignore this. Someone mentioned it in another thread. Nobody will reply anymore. They just ignore till the next time a similar thread comes up and they will be screaming conspiracy again.

Don't know if it's all fake but one thing's for sure, some of the pics are fake. They were done in a studio.

Oh yeah? Thats for sure? Got any proof? Or is it for sure because you read it on some conspiracy nut site?

Acne 09-01-2006 05:43 AM

For NASA, continuing to go to the moon is like going on a cruise around the world every year, but only getting off the cruise ship once, always at the same location.

People at NASA, those that look to the heavens, there is just so much more than just the moon. They have been there, done that, several times. They have their walks, their rocks, their experiments. They have explored several areas of it. It was time to move on. They could no longer justify the budget needed to continue to go to the moon over and over again. The general public was even questioning the need to constantly go to the moon.

As for the 14 years, it said it would take 14 years to get that particular craft to the moon. That means designing it, building it, testing it etc. They didn't say it would take 14 years to figure out how to put a man on the moon.

Now, I dunno about you guys but I smell something fishy. Here we are in the 21st century and it's going to take us around 14 years to put a man on the friggin moon? That should be childs play for us at this point. 2 years, sure... 14 years!?!?! Hell no.

I thought our biggest issue was getting men to Mars, not the moon.

Am I crazy for thinking this?

Apparantly the levels of radiation just halfway to the moon are something no human could stand in a suit or not.....

nothing to prove since we wont all be here by 2014 the way its headed

It does not make sense that you land a craft on the moon that uses thrusters to slow its decent, which by all accounts should of blown any dust, lose rock etc well away from the landing site and the first guy that steps out makes a nice foot print in the sand, and hold up a flag that is waving in the no atmosphere breeze.

I believe it was all bullshit as well. Nothing but a chance for the USA to show their superiority over Russia and prove to the world they are the greatest. We have done this since day one and we continue to do this. High power over paid officials will go great lengths to insure the US survives and stays on the "high horse". The US is *THE* land of coverups.
