I don't understand why we can't use the same technology back then to go to the moon again? We should be able to re build what we previously had and then try again. I know it's old technology that's not my point. That's why I have doubts about the moon landing. Why is that?

Back in the 60's ther wasn't any budget contraints. We HAD to get to the moon before 1970 to keep JFKs dream alive.

Also this new ship is reuseable so it's a completely different technology so it has to be tested. This thing also holds 6 as compared to 3 for Apollo. And the first launch is in 8 years not 14. You think the first time we are going to try this thing is when we send them to the moon?

As far as Mars. If this technology works then it can be used as a basis for a Mars misssion.

Sure if we just wanted to put 3 guys in a tin can on top of a old Saturn V rocket and send them to the moon we could do that right now. I think we are looking for something more advanced.

For NASA, continuing to go to the moon is like going on a cruise around the world every year, but only getting off the cruise ship once, always at the same location.

People at NASA, those that look to the heavens, there is just so much more than just the moon. They have been there, done that, several times. They have their walks, their rocks, their experiments. They have explored several areas of it. It was time to move on. They could no longer justify the budget needed to continue to go to the moon over and over again. The general public was even questioning the need to constantly go to the moon.

As for the 14 years, it said it would take 14 years to get that particular craft to the moon. That means designing it, building it, testing it etc. They didn't say it would take 14 years to figure out how to put a man on the moon.

Apparantly the levels of radiation just halfway to the moon are something no human could stand in a suit or not.....

It does not make sense that you land a craft on the moon that uses thrusters to slow its decent, which by all accounts should of blown any dust, lose rock etc well away from the landing site and the first guy that steps out makes a nice foot print in the sand, and hold up a flag that is waving in the no atmosphere breeze.
