.NET or not to .NET that is the question

So in this day and age can someone run a site that's a .NET and brand it successfully? Or would you be taking crazy pills to try?

depends on what type of a site you run and if you are marketing through word of mouth. if you are a tgp and your traffic comes from trades then you dont need anything more than a dot net.

unless its a good name, i wouldn't. but thats just me. i've never bought an adult.net. i got a couple non adult ones but i also own the .coms. no one is gonna type in .net or when they think of your site, will they remember its .net or just type in the .com?

Personally, I've had good experience with .NET even though I was a Java guy for many years. The CLR has been stable and the C# is a breeze to write with a Java background. My only complaint is that you can't rely on the garbage-collection, even though not having to deal with memory management is one of the selling points of the managed code and all high level languages.

yes but i think they do this knowing that most people will type in the .com instead of the .net. check out the difference between the two. you'll see why they do this.

Crazy pills.

You will lose approx. 25% of your traffic to the .COM.

Yep, PartyPoker does a good job with this ...

The only reason to really register a .net in my opinion is if you are going to use it along side the .com.

Avoid the .net. You will never hear the end of it if you go with a .net over a .com

No one ever types "firstthingthatcomestomind.net"

That's not funny dude. They're talking about domain names.
