Can I move files and upgrade databases while doing a cpanel backup?

Do not want to wait 5 hours for the home directory and mysql database backup to finish downloading to my computer. Would I be able to make directory changes and upgrade the database in the mean time or will this mess up my downloads?

If both computers are online, just have the current server save to it's own disk, then FTP/SCP it across to the new system?

Of course, if the new system is sitting next to you, you're screwed.

Ah. Well if you are doing minor vbulletin updates, it's fine to apply the update. If you're going from VB 2.x to 3.x, then you're going to want to make the full backup.
