Click Fraud Abuse - 8-10% most webmasters struggle to deal with --> now there is help

Click Fraud Abuse Web Site Launch Offers Free Service for Detecting Irregularities in Pay Per Click Advertising

Lori Weiman, director of KeywordMax, said that of a small group of customers, her firm found estimates of click fraud in the 8 percent to 10 percent range, but rates as high as 28 percent existed on the extreme end. KeywordMax data was not included in the Google report.

A judge has given final approval to a $90 million settlement of a click fraud lawsuit filed against Google, and a settlement between Yahoo and advertisers is pending.

Google and Yahoo representatives said they kick Web sites off their ad networks if they violate the ethics policies.

Click fraud is becoming a significant threat to pay per click advertising success. A new web site offers webmasters free help to detect PPC fraudulent clicks in pay per click advertising.

Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) August 25, 2006 -- It is enough of a challenge to keep up with the daily maintenance of a business web site, but dealing with click fraud is an added challenge that most webmasters struggle to deal with -- now there is help.

Webmasters have to keep up with the competition
ClickReport is a completely free, independent and unbiased pay-per-click (PPC) auditing solution designed to identify if a web site is the victim of fraudulent clicks on their PPC advertising campaigns.

ClickReport reports exactly who has clicked on any pay per click advertisement, and details the IP address, keyword used, and cookie or user session together with a date and time stamp.

"Webmasters have to keep up with the competition," said Robert Ward, president of the company. "And, keeping up with fraudulent behavior and tackling it, is part of the job."

ClickReport provides clients with a daily E-mail that details their PPC activity. In addition, they can log into their account, 24 hours per day, seven days per week, to view real-time information for all their PPC campaigns.

The web site offers an array of services that allows webmasters to view this information at-a-glance. ClickReport compiles statistics every time a user clicks on a client's advertisement. ClickReport uses these statistics to generate meaningful reports on traffic generated by an advertisement.

Currently, the following information is provided in the daily reports: IP address; cookie ID and session ID; referring search engine; keywords used; URL tag; warning level; date and time.

"Our service can also provide valuable information to webmasters so they can analyze PPC advertising campaigns," Ward explained. "Webmasters can take the information in each report and analyze the keywords used by visitors. This provides the advantage of being able to modify ad campaigns to maximize the click-through rate."

The features that http://www.ClickReport.com provides also enables webmasters to perform an array of functions that include being able to accurately detect and document pay per click fraud, recoup fraudulent click expenses from pay per click search engines, identify IP addresses that are frequent clickers or even fraudsters, receive completely unbiased and accurate details on the number of click throughs a campaign has received, and improve web site lead generation and pay per click conversion rates.

"The threat of click fraud has become so severe," Ward explained, "that a January 2006 issue of 'Newsweek,' reported Google's CFO as identifying click fraud as a significant threat to the entire Google business model."

ClickReport's mission is to "put the smile back into PPC advertising" and help their clients to avoid becoming victims of pay per click fraud.

About Click Report:
Click Report, LLC is owned by Layton Technology, Inc. of Florida and Jon Hunt Associates Limited Headquartered in the United Kingdom. The company provides free pay per click monitoring services to webmasters.

I must be slow, but how does this stop/prevent ppc fraud? I think that the best you can do with this is DETECT ppc fraud, but what good does that do you? It's not exactly a secret that there is ppc fraud going on on most advertising networks...

personally, I have never taken part in click fraud or any fraud for that matter, and I'm glad to see they are on top of the ones who are taking advantage of the system in this digital age, they should all be put behind bars because they make honest webmasters like myself look bad

What about clickfraud done via chatrooms through layer/multipoint pages? Oldest trick in the book but I haven't seen ANY program that is able to crack down on that shit. There's other newer variations of that crap everywhere. I wrote about it in the early edition of http://justtraffic.blogspot.com I applaud any development though cuz rampant fraud will crash legit webmasters as well if those proggies go strictly CPA.

This is based on IP addresses and cookies. Both of which are easily manipulated by anyone but a complete moron.

The whole settlement is bunk IMO. It doesn't make a damn if 2% of clicks are fraudulant or 98%. Webmasters are bidding for placement, if they don't profit they will lower bids or quit buying. The price will always equal out because the big spenders that watch every penny are going to bid as much as they can to stay on top while still making a profit.

For example, Keyword 1 is currently $1 per click and has plenty of advertisers who are PROFITING at $1 per click. Whoops, look at that 50% of clicks are fraud so they fix it magically. Profit per click just doubled BUT now those webmasters that couldn't profit at $1 per click can. The price soon goes up to $2 / click with 0 fraud and everyone makes the same amount of money. The poor guy that could finally profit at $1 / click won't get exposure and he's right back to not being able to profit cause it's $2 now.

You have to ask yourself what's in it for Layton Technology. I think I can guess.
