Very nice. And I was just thinking about how much I like my new $95 Guess watch. :upsidedow

justinsain 08-24-2006 07:52 PM

My brother in-law started with nothing and made a fortune in real estate. When he got to the point where he could buy anything he wanted he bought a Rolex. Gold Presidential. He said he had always dreamed of getting to a point in life where he could buy a watch like that with little consequence to his bank account. It was a symbol to him that he had achieved his dream.

I think that's a good reason to get a Rolex however, just because someone has one it doesn't mean they have money to burn or they've made it. It only means that they spent X amount on a watch.

I used to live in a town where everyone had a rolex. The rich retired people, drug dealers, rich kids in high school had them too. I know of at least two people that financed their watches. One guy bought his girlfriend one and had to make payments on it. Drug dealers with gold chains and rolex watches driving beat up 4WD trucks. Then there where all the others that bought fake ones and tried to fool everyone. It got to be a big joke after awhile.

From that I learned that owning a Rolex is not really a status symbol. I do admire those that worked hard to get to the point where they can buy what they want and if I ever got that far I'd buy one too.

Congrats on the nice purchase :thumbsup

One last thing, my friend had one with the diamond bezel and he used to scratch the hell out of everything. He was always talking and talked with his hands and kept scratching the tinted windows in my car. Man that pissed me off.

Totally disagree. Every guy I know with major money on the level beyond "rich" doesn't give a flying fuck what people think. Not to say they don't own expensive watches, but they're just as secure walking around in loafers, old torn jeans, a t-shirt, their regular car and a cheap sports watch like a casio.

It's ironic, but when you are really really wealthy you don't want anyone knowing you're really really wealthy. LOL

Go to any pawn shop and you'll find lots of Rolex's available. :upsidedow

Peaches 08-24-2006 08:00 PM

When I was in HS one of my girlfriend's fathers was a tad bit tempting on laws. He made tons of money copying 8 tracks and selling them cheap. Had a HUGE warehouse filled with them. Amazingly, Elvis was his biggest seller every year.

Anyhoo, once he bought thousands of RODEX watches for pennies. He'd pay us 5 cents for each watch to take the lens off and use a toothpick to rub off the top right part of the D and make them into ROLEX :)

I'm probably going to jail now that everyone knows......

I love my Rolex, but find my Breitling fits me size wise better. You are totally correct though, I was sporting a Breitling, you had a Sub Mariner, and Timbo from Adultpaymaster.com had a 45k Plat Rolex Presidential with bling.

We all looked like bums, till you looked at our wrists. :):):)

nAtuRaLbEautY 08-24-2006 08:11 PM

looks great!
i'm sure for a great price, too..
but everyone needs to have a treat for themselves from time to time..

Yes they don't keep their time well...

It has nothing to do with the clarity. It's just ugly. I almost bought one but just couldnt stand the bubbles.

It cracks me up reading the "I'm a (insert very expensive brand name here) man" comments made by people who can't afford more than a Casio....

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I love the watch.

I'm a "whatever Belinda gets me" man. I won't let her spend more than a couple hundred bucks. But if I was driving a Lambo I'd want a nice watch too. And this Rolex is hot!

Love the watch! I'm normally not a big Rolex fan, but this is pretty clean looking. I'm not one for all kinds of colors, dials, etc like a lot of watches have... I'm personally a Movado man but I'd wear this in a second.

Cheers! :thumbsup

Movado is my next watch Im buying. Not 34k, more like 2200.00 but its more than enough bling for me. :winkwink:

Allan,

Congrats on the new watch. You work hard, have had great success and deserve everything that you have. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Enjoy it!

p.s. If you have a bunch of extra cash laying around, can I raise your processing rates now?

I have tons of stocks in my portfolio. Then I have all my managed funds etc.

I've been having most fun lately with SIRI and GM. When it took a dive, I managed to buy it right at the bottom, timed it well.

I've been hitting SIRI on its big ups and downs almost like clockwork. Now I'm holding I want to get it around $8 and see what I can do.

L0rdJuni0r 08-25-2006 01:10 AM

Check out ZTR and ZF. Closed end ETFs, steady and solid. ZF is a little bit more speculative but priced at a discount. ZTR I have had good luck with, I can't take credit for the pick, found out about it from an old-time successful webmaster.

Mine is a really nice wood box with glass top. You know the Bearle (sp) wood. It holds two watches. I'll try to find one like it, I got it at a local jeweler. It was like $700 which is kinda high.

Thanks
