Netscape needs to give up...
All this news IE VS NETSCAPE
they need to give up, they are a bunch of whiney bastards so microsoft took their ass out by packaging their IE with their windows, its your choice if you want to use it to get on the internet or not. IE is faster then netscape, and has many better features. Netscape needs to just get over the fact everybody loves IE (or most people) and do not want netscape. My stats have said the same thing for years, More IE users and less and less netscape users, so they need to shove their piece of shit netscape up their ass http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/interne....ap/index.html |

the problem is, they are too late to introduce something like mozilla 1.0
simply because IE is just fine, i never have any slowness or problems, never had with IE i wouldn't even think to switch just because i am satisfied netscape is just a bunch of whiney losers that lost the "browser wars" and they need to accept that and fold. |

The only reason I like Netscape is the email client. You can set difrent mail accounts seprately. Other than that I fuckin hate the way it renders.

mozilla 1.0 is great.
i disagree that they're too late. remember who owns Netscape? AOL. that's potentially a lot of users who could end up switched.

what happens when aol starts releasing aol instant message specific toolbars and plugins for mozilla on top of that? how many other isps do you think will also give out preconfigured mozilla as part of their new user package? because of the nature of MSIE being completely proprietary and hardly extendable, mozilla will most likely become the browser of choice for the majority of web enabled 'appliances'. when joe blow dipshit gets used to using netscape on his playstation, his palmpilot, and airport terminals etc, it may become preferably or advantageous for him to remain consistant with his pc's browser also. the part that sucks for us is it's annoying to have to support 2 browsers, but that should be preferably to any reasonable person over giving a company like microsoft a complete monopoly, who achieved it so unethically and ILLEGALLY, because its convienant. |

Plus, more little scripty things work with IE, and many of these little cosmetic bells & whistles do NOT work with Nutscrape. Table borders look better (and proper) in IE. Text-link color-change mouseovers work with IE and not nutscrape.
Nutscrape can bite ass.

but, netscape has lost, nobody is willing to change to mozilla or netscape, because IE does the job just fine and thats the bottom line |

aol only has 30,000,000 subscribers, or so they say
which are dropping to cable / dsl at an alarming rate to them haven't you been reading, aol is doing shit for profit, they can't keep up with the demand for broadband service, people just love cable and dsl wayyy more i think it was between 3,000 - 5,000 + switch to broadband every day |

Competition is always good. EVERYONE should be happy IE has some sort of competition. I'm glad it does. I think Mozilla being open source and independent will eventually allow it to take back the market from IE. Just look at Apache and Linux. Both open source and both kick MS's ass in their respective areas (webservers and OS's) as far as performance goes. I see great things in the future from this and a product that eventually blows IE away.

Its funny Netscape was the Don - then some competition came along and they choked big time. Now I refer to my former favorite browser only as "Nutscrape Navigator".......

Its all because AOHELL bought them. Its funny that the average retention of AOL Users is about 6 months. Then people figure it out the AOL sucks ass and go somewhere else. My bet was AOL purchased Netscape to stop the browser war BS.
Remember IE is still bundled with AOHELL!

Payroll you obviously have NO freaking idea what MS was doing to the computer vendors with their BS forced contracts blah blah blah. We had to sign one of the d*mned things and it was pure de BS. I hope these lawsuits lay Gates down and run over him a few times just like he did to all the computer stores in this country.
And if you know what you are doing like someone else already mentioned... write the pages in the CORRECT html format and they work fine. IE works on trash html and stolen coding. NOT pure, like Netscape. But IE will read proper coding as well. It's all about the webmasters skills, eh? So read up or don't complain. ![]() |

Yep! Many states including ours declared the contracts null and void due to them being signed under coercement and duress. And the leading states still haven't given in like Dubya's followers. ![]() |

i give credit to bill gates and microsoft
they owned the software market, and took everybody out it is great if the other companies had such great products they would be #1 as well, but they aren't, so what does that show microsoft started out with nothing, and became the next biggest thing, kudos to them 90% of the people who chat on here wouldn't be anywhere w/o microsoft, infact, 99% probably unless more of you rely on linux and mac os to surf the web :P |
