if I ran wikipedia.........
I would have many MANY subject related advertising spots on my site
that would already bring in millions and millions AND, I will offer everybody a paid membership as well to be able to surf the current version, with absolutely no ads and banners. Voila! |

Isn't the whole idea behind Wikipedia "open source"?
How can an open source model survive with a secure revenue structure? I'm all for making money, but if they turned into a money hound they would alienate both surfers and contributors alike. Joe Blow, expert at glass blowing, is not going to contribute his time and money so Gordon Gecko can drive a new Ferrari.
