Mainstream is so much different than porn?

Content is so much harder to get.
Link trading & traffic.. OMFG I don't even know where to start, other than SE.
Sponsors.. well, there's a fucking gazillion of them out there & fuck who knows if they pay or not or whatever,, & well, it's so much fucking easier for ME to do porn.. that's what I know.. Fuck, I can build a pornsite in less than hour & have traffic pumped into it in a matter of minutes..
with mainstream, fucking days building this site.. & really, I doubt I would even make a 10th of the revenue that I make in porn..

It all starts in the forums. Most of them dont put up with bullshit or flaming either. Get 10-100 posts on 10 different mainstream forums. Sitepoint.com i've heard is good, dnforum.com is a good domain forum, not sure what else is out there for mainstream.

nah - the same rule applies in mainsteam as in adult - the scammers, spammers and parasites make the most.

content is king if you're Bangbros or Lightspeed in adult - same applies to mainstream if you're ESPN or something like that. Quality content sites in mainstream take more resources. I will guarantee you that nobody on GFY who claims success in mainstream can show a content site that is anything but spam of some type. hmmm.......... actually i do know a few GFYers that have decent mainstream content sites but they don't make that much money.

Mainstream is awesome. Much of the competition lacks competence, free incoming links are ridiculously easy to get, etc.

You just need to choose the right target. For example, make a few sites about your interests, hobbies, or whatever, and apply your knowledge from adult to them. In many cases, you can quite easily become a dominant player in your niche.

The trick is to stay away from the obvious money-makers and internet-specific areas (dating, online gambling, software, etc.), since those usually do have a lot of competition.

i just don't see how content can't be rehashed from somewhere else in mainstream or adult. its all gotta come from somewhere unless you are writing articles or something.

if you're spamming the search engines or can spam mailing i'd imagine its much easier as its not about getting people to like your site as it is just getting as many eyes and click throughs to sponsors as possible.

There is no money in mainstream.... at least not for most adult webmasters.

Mainstream requires a complete shift in attitude, every deal you do will require contracts and conference calls. Many companies will simply refuse to do business with you if you are not big enough or aren't coming in through a personal referral.

With that said however, mainstream is so crooked and willing to do virtually anything to make money. So if you do get "in" with the right people and have something good to sell you'll find yourself turning away deals.

Mainstream takes a thick skin and some serious resolve.
