As for the national debt, it will be a problem in the future. Although I don't believe in the end of the US predictions by some far reaching people. The US will have to deal with it someday and it will probably come from government spending, a small raise in taxes to some, and some inflation to our economy. I still don't see that knocking the US off as a decrease in the US economy will have a trickle down effect on many countries throughout the world. Quote:

America is a tolerant country, the only one giving permanent residency visas away to almost anyone in almost any country of the world with a lottery. America is Black, Asian, European, Jewish, Arab, Latino.... etc. Insulting America is insulting the world diversity. Respect please, its all people ask, not love.

With a free market economy like the US, you will have areas of your society that rely on heavily on your economic standing. Just as the rich can afford good lawyers while the poor can't. However, the lack of a socialized health care system allows for competition in the medical field and thus creating one of the most medically advanced nations in the world. We have some of the best hospitals and doctors in the world. Socializing medicine will cause less motivation for a doctor to become great. Again, it's not a good thing sometimes, but it's the price you pay for not being in a completely socialist government. You pay much higher tax rates in Canada, which I'd prefer not to. I'd rather have my money and do with it as I please. |

It's hard to say the US has a stable economy when the dollar value is often worth 40% less against many other currencies than it was a few years ago. In theory, this should have helped the economy by promoting exports - but there is little to export competitivly, - so that opportunity has been lost. Dunno if you are aware - all US homes plus their contents can barely cover the total of the nations debt. To a substantial degree - other nations own the US by their lending facilities. The US Treasury did the most extensive report ever on the economy (took 10 years) and delivered this in.. think spring 2002. Their recommendations were immediate tax rates of 60% "for the foreseeable future" to try and clear the backlog of debt. Young George of course filed it in his out-tray - he don't do figures :-) But it will end up being address by hopefully "somebody" in some future govt. This level of debt pro rata population exceeds all other countries and the continued lack of any fiscal policy and living off the "national credit card" is just not sustainable. No sane person would run any business like that - USA Inc is a business. Quote:
This thread was about "America Being So Shitty" - it's not shitty. It has major problems ahead - prob more than any other country has ever had - and needs a remedy and some realism injected before it causes major lifestyle changes. Fantasy can only last so long in the real world - that is changing rapidly along with major economic shifts.

USA is not shitty, just like every other country it has its positives and also its negatives. There are many good countries to live in, always depends on what you want.

I'm still amazed that people can't figure out the difference between people "hating America", and people opposing our dangerous, imperialist foreign policy.
I love America. I'm a New Yorker born and raised. That doesn't mean I have to be too stupid to understand how our neo-conservative government is by far the biggest threat to world peace. Don't get upset or defensive when people criticize our country's leadership. We didn't elect them. Sure people call us stupid for letting them take power, sure some blame us for what they do with our military. However, we do the exact same thing, blame innocent people for radicals in their country. Look at the current situation in Lebanon. For the most part, Americans think that it's ok for innocent Lebanese civilians to die, because they "let" Hezbollah exist. We blame everyone in that country for the actions of the radicals. I don't see the difference between that and people being pissed off at Americans for the actions of our government. The only glaring difference I can see is that we're actively involved in killing them, while people who are mad at the US, generally just complain about it. |

they may come but not everyone stays
most immigrants come to make money save as much as possible then go home and live well for many many years. Ask most Cubans in South Florida and you'll see most who are immigrant can't wait for their country to get right so they can go back Finding work is what most people are coming to America for, don't even kid yourself it's something else.
