New Slayer!!!!

I love it...it's that time of year again - just got the new Slayer CD Christ Illusion. I can remember anxiously awaiting the release of every new Slayer album since Reign in Blood way back in ?87. There a great feeling you get when you hear the Tom?s first words on each new CD:

Take a deep breath
Cause it all starts now
When you pull the fucking pin
The shrapnel burns?(ect)

Then they follow that up with at least 10 songs of total brutality. The more things change, the more Slayer stays the same.

Dave Lombardo is back on this one - another nice treat.

I have nothing but mad respect for those guys.

Yep I was listening to it last night, sounds great. I like it better than the last album.

Yeah, "Gods Hates Us All" got a lot of good hype, but it wasn't their best effort.

The new one is a throwback to the older days and so far im very impressed. Been a Slayer fan since i first saw them when i was 16, nothing compares to the old stuff but this cd is pretty damn good.

I can't get enough of it...really good stuff...I liked God Hates Us All, but was kind of disappointed with most of their stuff after Seasons In The Abyss, but this album restores my faith that SLAYER is the greatest band in the world

My favorite track is "Eyes Of The Insane" but "Jihad" is really growing on me and sticking in my head most of the day...

AOL Radio also recently launched an all SLAYER radio station...yeah, I know, AOL sucks, but the station is free and hey, it's all SLAYER all day.... http://music.aol.com/radioguide/bb.adp

I saw your first post about it. I would bump it but this forum has some stupid rule about posting URL's unless you have a certain amount of posts.

The album rules. It's a throwback to oldschool slayer, but I was hesitant to buy it because the person that started this thread stated system of a down is metal in other threads I saw.

I almost threw up.

It's a good album regardless of the idiots that jump on the metal bandwagon. Doesn't compare to Reign but it is still very good.

No problem, there can never be enough SLAYER threads ;-)

I really doubt there will ever be anything as good as Reign...for me that album just grabbed me and shook the hell out of me when I was a kid and nearly 20 years later, I can listen to it from beginning to end and it still sounds fresh and new.

No doubt. Reign in Blood was absolute art. It was controlled musical anarchy almost like Mozart redid his Requim for the 20th century. There were others too. No one can discount Megadeath's Peace Sells and others.

What bothers me is people who rattle on about pop bands like system of a down and other pop crap as metal, then jump on Slayer to be "hardcore".

I meet them in bars all the time. I only hope they mention system of a down or linkin park in a pit I'm in.
