Dumbest Response to a Spam Report Ever?

Yesterday, I got an Internet Eraser spam in e-mail, so I forwarded the e-mail complete with partnership code to [email protected], so that they could enforce the rule that says "Spamming of any form is not permitted. You will not be paid if we get spam complaints." So, I thought I'd made sure that one more spammer would not be paid.

Well, today I get a reply from [email protected] (WHOIS tells me they are same as InternetEraser.com) saying "To stop spam, contact the spammer."

Now, you know and I know what the result of contacting the spammer would have been. Only EraserBucks.com can put an end this spammer's career, but do you detect a singular lack of resolve in the nature of their response?

I'm hoping this was a "rogue agent" and not the usual way EraserCash.com handles spam complaints.

I made 3 million dollars in 2001 spamming for erasercash. I can afford to take you off my list, consider yourself clear.

And, what are your views on Terms? Rules are made to be broken? Oh, and any other spammers on the board, feel free to stop sending me spam, too.

Anyone else want to tell dipshit moron retard he can stop sending to them as well?

But he'll keep spamming! I was interested in seeing the Terms enforced.

Oh, I get it: You were kidding!!!

Okay, when I wrote back that I wasn't interested in just getting MYSELF off the list, but instead to making a contribution, however small, to stopping spam in general by pulling the rug out from under this guy, here is the official response:

"I know who you are. You should be aware that this won't stop it. When they figure out what we did they will just change sponsors."

True, to an extent, but when enough funding is denied by enough sponsors, perhaps this asshole will think it's too much trouble to earn money this way.

What is Internet Eraser's REAL policy on spam, since it isn't actually the one they publish.

I suppose that spammer makes big $$$ for erasercash..

I also suppose that your complaint unfortunately holds little weight.. now if AOL complained that would be different! ;)

AOL has much bigger muscles than any adult company and has used them before!

Now will someone teach me how to spam?!

I can come close to topping that.

I got three identical Lightspeed Sority spams on the same day, with the usual bogus "email us to be taken off our list" line at the bottom. Since Lightspeed seems like a cool outfit, I forwarded one of the spams to Tanker. He said he'd look into it.

A day later, I got an email purporting to be a "you have been removed from our list" notice from the spammer -- which indicated that someone at Lightspeed had initiated the request. Not exactly a robust response -- plus it confirmed my email address on the spam list, which I hate.

Sure enough, an hour later, I got another copy of the spam, same as the first three.

Try signing up for a lightspeed site, maybe then the spam will stop.

If they don't want to cancel them, why bother with an anti-spam requirement. Instead, ENCOURAGE spam.

I guess the message is: If you don't spam the proggy, you're a great big sucker.

Unseen and all you anti spammers the bottom line is, if it makes money, it makes sense.

I've been in sales for over 25 years. The way I've always got business is to approach the people, I thought might be interested in what I had to sell. With a contact about who I am and what I do.

From knocking on doors, to phoning to sending letters. Spam is like advertising on TV, if TV ads disappeared there would be no television stations barring the State run channels.

If you want to live in a free and non communist system you have to live with advertising, be it subtle like your or my signature, to being approached in a mall by someone trying to sell life insurance. It's only on the Internet that I have found this resistance to a standard business practise or promotion.

I'm totally honest about why I am here at 8.30 on a Saturdey evening. Business is slow because of the WC and I have to make sure that I meet everyones wages and pay the bills next month.

Or are you here just to pass on your knowledge and generally help new content providers come and take your living away?

Or in some polynesian cultures they roll it up with rice and some nori [dried seaweed] for a scrumptious roll.

Spam's also great with fried rice--I lived off that stuff in college [along with stovetop stuffing...but that's another thread]

can you send a complaint to the BBB? they're not following established terms. especially in regards to spam.. that should at least be a nice one to get them some sort of negative attention.. even if it's not "illegal"

I sent clickcash an email once regarding a constant spam I was getting, in the emailk I put a URL to the site that I was being spammed, which contained pictures of cam girls etc, with all the thumbs linked directly to the ifriends join page with cookie code in tact on all links.

What I got from them was an email saying how they could not find how that URL was not promoting a Webpower Inc site and that it was not spam...

Needlesstosay it was spam, and they like many others deny it, but accept it.

Only people that really dont like spam are ISPs.

Contact them. Its alot harder finding a new ISP than a new sponsor.

this thread has proven to be very helpful for my "what's the easiest way to make money with absolutely no repurcussions" dilemna!

That's the formula! Read the rules and do the opposite. Ask 'em: Maybe they'll even give you a spam list.

It's a STUPID reply, and the staff member who wrote that has been dealt with almost a month ago.

I appreciate hearing that. I was appalled at the time.

just because it makes money, it doesn't make sense, and it doesn't make it right.
