I think our use of actual text pagers like the Skytel's in the 90's, the Sidekicks and the Blackberrys hurt our overall text adoption.

It trained us to use a qwerty keyboard or just don't text at all. Now a large swath of our population is spoiled and hates to type with our thumbs on a numerical keypad while overseas people are capable of typing 70 words per minute with them.

Not to mention the US carriers have so many restrictions and excessive fees on content that it's stunting our growth.

It sucks over here for mobile.

Texting is still a pain in the ass on most phones...too many damn small keys, etc + relatively expensive! Good read....
