Google taking steps to making surfing safer

http://stopbadware.org/

We're entering a new phase here at StopBadware.org. Google -- which is one of our partners -- is now presenting people with a warning before they visit websites that have been reported to StopBadware.org as sites that distribute badware. These warnings currently link to a general page on StopBadware.org, but as we finish researching sites, we'll replace the general page with one of our individual website reports

Thank you Google, Lenovo and Sun Microsystems for throwing money at this project

It's genius if you ask me.
Now we can have Google Pagerank and Safety ranks. So when Google launches their browser at some point, there can be safety filters complete preventing access to those sites. As a admin for more then 500workers, I love news like that.

why not just ban every site that installs malware?
they serve no purpose.

would not be fair to those sites that have been compromised by a invasive script hosted by a banner/flash-animation etc.

Yes because everyone knows the job of spyware/antivirus/censorship belongs to search engines....

I think this is the beginning of a very bad idea.

i don't think it would be the same, i mean people searching for porn want to find porn, if they are warned the site contains porn its just telling them it contains what they are looking for in the first place. no way google should label porn sites as malicious like sites who install malware, etc are.

I hate "malware" as much as the next person, but it seems like this is just a prelude to GOOG forcing EVERYONE to pay for their listing. Also now they can potentially sell their "malware" traffic to AdWords buyers. Since they can also control how many "malware" listings show up in the normal results, GOOG can now potentially sell standard listing traffic in the future also...
