if your out to get the software for free its not that hard to do...and no one can really "Stop" you

BUT

for regular people searching for their product...those people who would usually buy it will just crack it instead, so they lose a fuckload of sales

Hello and welcome to the world of selling software over the internet.

Retail-only software is still hit, but not nearly as hard.

I predict a day will come, maybe very far in the future, but oh yes it will come, that search engines will be held accountable for the information they give people. I honestly can't believe people haven't tried to sue them yet, or maybe they have, and I haven't heard about it.

Example, if someone comes to me and asks me how to steal a car, I tell them how knowing that they are really going to steal a car, and they go out and steal a car and get caught, I am an accessory to that crime.

Why are search engines not held accountable for the information that they give out?

I think they will sell actually more licenses because of those sites. The software
gets distributed a LOT faster and gets a LOT more exposure and believe it or not
but a lot of people still buy a license if they are happy with the software.

If they are smart they let it go until itīs VERY widely use then they change the
license system and make bank. Microsoft is doing very well using this strategy.

google doesn't really know you are intending to use the information they show for any illegal purposes..

I think of more than 1 way which makes it virtually impossible (read; so hard
to crack thatīs not feasable to do it) to protect software. You really think
all these software companies make kickass software but canīt develope a
licensing system that would REALLY protect their software?

Iīll describe just 1 way to do it in a few words. software connects to server
with a x bit encrypted key. Server opens key verifies key (1 time) sends back
new key which is again packed in a key. All keys are 1 used 1 time....pretty
simple to build and worst case scenario if youīre able to crack both keys you
can only use the software once coz the server will notice and wonīt send new
keys.

and thatīs just 1 way to do it if computer is not connected to internet it could
be verified by a usb stick which is registered to a encrypted key of several
system ids like mac address processor serial number, etc, etc.

This same technique is used for RFID chip payment systems / id verification
which (mark my words) will replace the Credit Cards as internet payment
option in the near future. Iīm actually working on something like this

This will also be used for payment systems in shops, bars, clubs, etc, etc.

The only way I will buy software is if I can try it first. Even some of the sites that say no trial will allow you if you talk with them. No reason to steal from them;

It will because each key set is only used once......so even when you crack it
it has become useless coz after you successfuly opened it canīt be used again.
Thereīs no algorythm used to generate the keys instead theyīre generated
with random data and itīs a 2 way verification without the source code you
canīt get the mechanism out of the software......Iīd say goodluck and happy
cracking.

Youīd even know which license is attempting to crack it as the keys hold
a combination unique to a piece of software and the system itīs running on.
Thereīs no way to go around it.....the only tricky part in this the server. It
shouldnīt be prown to attacks and be up all the time....for big companies even
that can be randomised using randomly different servers from a pool in different
networks.......Iīll guarantee you this works......thereīs no pattern, no way
of trying keys....as 1 wrong try will cause the software not to work and the
server wonīt be sending a new keypair itīs just not possible

Any serious business will gladly pay whatever license cost for software itīs
way too risky to get caught and sooooo not worth the saving of a few bucks.
individuals......nobody really cares about.....itīs about people using your
software to make money....thatīs where the money comes from.

You really think Microsoft cares about kids or some student uses a unregistered
copy of Windows? Those are the people who made what it is today...thatīs
marketing expenses and are written off and tax deductable.....they are far
more valuable than the license fee themselfes.

You have a really odd view on whatīs business and howto make money.
Look in your wallet right and bank right now and tell me if perhaps you
I could be right when I say perhaps you might want to rethink your way
of doing business coz it ainīt working out too well?

p.s. No offence meant.....just trying to figure what makes you believe your
ideas work so well........Iīd be glad to hear that and see that Iīm wrong....

I donīt say it canīt.....but I doubt itīs a good, easy and safe way that it can.
apart from the fact that even if it would work it would be very temporary.

well it would be open aslong as it had hosting, which isnt a problem

i ran livetorrents.com before and it was at 50-60k unique/day but the only reason that failed was because our programmer stopped coding...so nothing on the site could be edited
