Noone sides with Muslims, that's why Israel has vague support.

I suspect the EU basically don't give a fuck about one religion vs the other. US is the one and only Israeli ally and EU has to consider the US and their wishes. On the other hand we have the whole oil perspective and potential economic benefits of a good relationship with the medieval Arab countries.
Possible strategy: Don't support either side and let Bush take the heat.

Great the Republicians acheive what they want and get a United Ireland but it would all be for nothing because now instead of the IRA bombing Northern Ireland you will have the loyalists bombing Northern Ireland and Ireland.
