Wow Verio went down.
Hi,
I saw that Verio went down, what does that mean exactly. I mean does that mean all routes that went through Verio are down? Or is it just a part of Verio what is down then? Sorry I have no idea how it works exactly ( I saw that because my site went down for 1 minute, and picked up another route, because I'm multihomed) Andre

Lol I didn't whine that much over Cogent. Only that they update the lines often, so small downtimes are the results.
But again, only Verio is not good too(but better then Cogentco) that's why I'm multihomed Andre |

But thought small downtime, like 5 minutes or so. I think they're updating because when I looked it was up and down again for a few minutes. Andre |

Yeah, both of them will have problems sometimes, but the problem with cogent is, wether they are up or down, they suck. 90% of their routes range from "bad" to "very bad", whereas 90% verio's routes range from "good" to "bad". |

the biggest difference between Cogent and Verio is peering.
Verio/NTT have it, Cogent doesn't so they bought Netrail and still suck. What carrier is going to look at Cogent's 90/10 outbound/inbound bandwidth ratio and accept a peering realtionship? Answer, none. Shit, the price ain't even that different. If you buy in ISP quantity, you can get Cogent for $30/Mbps and Verio for $50/Mbps.

Might have been a telco problem on your side of town...Verio as a whole was not down...certain areas may fail because of hardware issues, telco issues, etc.

No Verio outages here... I've had them as my provider for about 6 months and I haven't had downtime yet. I think a better comparison for Verio and Cogent is more like comparing a Volvo to a Yugo. If you go to Boardwatch.Com and look at the provider ratings Verio's network is rated as one of the fastest and most reliable.
Mr. Fiction... Give me a call! Brad

I hear there is some outstanding bandwidth pricing from them (Cogent-style) in Detroit and Miami
If anyone's interested, let me or Brad from SinEmpire know! Bob |
