You know what.

We may not yet be in a World War, however...I am convinced that the war profiteers behind the military-industrial complex invented the "war on terror" in order to make money hand over fist, with the Bush Administration issuing no-bid contracts and signing blank checks over to them faster than you can say capital gains tax cut for the rich.
Remember the war on drugs? We fought that as we looked the other way while the Contras dealt drugs to support their battle. The Taliban had actually put a serious dent in the heroin trade in Afghanistan, however now that we have overthrown them and installed a new "democratic" puppet regime, the heroin business is rebounding in a big way. The Bush Admistration also used the war on terror to do an end around on the intelligence community by creating a Homeland Security Department, stacked with like-minded foot soldiers of the military-industrialists. Oh yes, and they secretly tapped our phones and computers, have installed cameras everywhere, and otherwise invaded our privacy, all in the name of freedom as well. In order to do war with the terrorists our government sets up secret prisons (and some not so secret ones like Gitmo), and torture people while ignoring the Geneva Convention, because we are better than the terrorists. The "doublespeak" (see Orwell) that is emanating from Washington DC is ominous. Words that many of us hold sacred like "freedom", "liberty", "justice" and "equality" are being raped and abused before our eyes by the very people entrusted to protect and preserve them. I shake my head when I see how much they have refined doublespeak since the days of Jeanne Kirkpatrick's differentiation between Dictorships and Totalitarian regimes. If truth is the first casualty of war, then perhaps WWIII has already started. ADG Webmaster |

Somehow you forget that some of these nations are members of the Arab League A group created to "Serve the common good of all Arab countries, ensure better conditions for all Arab countries, guarantee the future of all Arab countries and fulfill the hopes and expectations of all Arab countries." but has failed. Famine and poverty still permiate the land and the iron fists of oppresive leaders burn their wealth. Let's say it like it really is They will not settle for anything less than the total destruction of Isreal. The fact that people forget history and are too lazy to read anything past a few articles and watch the news just feeds a urge to villify the largest and easiest target. the United States. When we don't help out a nation in war we are scourned internationally and when we do.. they burn our flag in the streets and seek war on us. One more note before I address your list. Most nations who can interfere with civil war and benefit in some way DO. this is not limited to the US. Nations in this list have all meddled in a civil war at some point, but see MUCH less press "propoganda" about it. France England Iran Egypt The Former Soviet Union China Cuba I'm sure there are Many many more I'm just getting very tired. and have so much more to say. Lebanon: was at war with itself for some 20 years with one short little break for less than a year. Grenada: was occuspied by a nation that had already been a nuclear threat to us in the past. Libya: I don't know enough about and can't say anything about so i won't Panama: Noriega had already declared that a state of war between the US and Panamaand threatened the Americans living in Panama, not to mention killing an unarmed American Soldier. Kuwait/Iraq: IRAQ invaded Kuwait HELLO? Somalia: was a United Nations Chapter 7 intervention into the Republic of Somalia, aimed to avert a growing humanitarian disaster in that increasingly lawless country, which was suffering from a severe famine, general chaos, and domination by a number of warlords following the collapse of Siad Barre's Marxist government. Haiti: The de facto military government resigns at the request of the United States in September, which then sends in troops to occupy Haiti. This occupation is sanctioned by the United Nations. The U.S. returns Aristide as president October 15. Bosnia This was a result of Genicide in Bosnia read more 8,000 massacred Afghanistan: WELL DUH hello? where have you been? in a cave in Syria hanging out with O Sama? :winkwink: Iraq: This war is a pile of shit and I'm tired I'm not saying the U.S. is a nation full of goodie goodie's but we are not the EVIL threat that people are saying we are.. hell where would the porn industry be without the free love movement or Bill Clinton? rofl have a good night. |
Samuel Huntington nailed the phrase. It's a "Clash of Civilizations".

Never Mis-Underestimate (Bush-ism) the Power of Fox News
How nice it must be to be able to reduce complex issues to one paragraph rah-rah-rationalizations to justify the many conflicts and wars that this country has been involved in.
Unfortunately for me, after serving six years in the military (including four on a Staff Command as an Analyst), followed by six years studying History as a major in college (where I also dabbled in Anthropolgy, Linguistics, and Psychology, and other such subjects), I no longer have the luxury or the right to see the world purely in black and white. Bundled and nuzzled by the liberal media (yeah right), it is easy to forget that we helped train, arm and put into power many of the people and countries that you mentioned, from Noriega to the Taliban, to Saddam and even to Osama bin Laden. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. http://ice.citizenlab.org/archives/i...eld-saddam.jpg Pardon me if my blood boils when we kill in the name of non-existent WMDs, or the government operates secret torture camps with my tax dollars. When I was a kid, I was told and believed that only the bad guys do such things. Too often many people in this country that supposedly loves freedom and cherishes free speech are quick to attack any voice of dissent, and label people as supporting the enemy or worse, when in fact the person may simply be trying to have an alternative viewpoint considered. I agree that 9-11 started WW3, it has just been slow for all hell to break loose.... but it's coming with a quickness.
