Electric Bill - Working at home... can you?

Deduct any portion of your electric bill when you work from home?

If I was not here, I'd be in a nice cushy office with my company sporting the bill... So since I work from home, can I deduct a portion?

Yes - measure your office and then find the percentage against the total of the house. You can then take that percentage off of your bills, electric, gas, water, phone, etc... usually like 10-15 percent. Call an accountant to be sure, it may be different in different states.

Any costs involved in your ability to conduct business can be written off to an extent... Gas, rent or mortgage... etc..

Yup down here in Aussie land you can do elec, gas, morguage, etc etc. You can also get back a % of your own money you may be paying into a superannuation fund.
