Oh hell yeah, my insurance is gonna have to pay for my contents lost during Katrina!

If you've followed my saga you'll know my insurance paid (after deductable) $157.40 for my totally unlivable house.

I hired a roofer based on his deal to fight the insurance company for a proper settlement.

A much nicer guy from my insurance company met him than had done the initial assessment. He agreed totally that the first assessment was inadequate and everything my roofer pointed out should have been covered.

When he was done with the roofer I asked him if he could look at the rest of the house. This man took his time taking measurements, pictures, notes inside and out.

When the insurance sent the supplimental check covering the roof they also included over twice the amount based on other damages based on the 2nd adjusters observations and a detailed breakdown of what the adjustments were for.

Here's the *peach*: every room in my house now has from my insurance company in their own writing noted damage due to ROOF BREACH. This verifies what I told them about water coming into the house through the ceiling long before the flood water came.

That is all I need to nake them pay the contents part of my policy.

As I pulled everything from my house before it was hauled away I not only made a written inventory I also took digital pictures of everything.

It's not. Really
And the bad thing is many people were either told they did not need flood insurance or it was not available to them and that the policy they were getting was more than adequate.

But once you have roof breach it's no longer about "flood".
