This is actually an interesting topic. I go through phases where for a week to a couple of weeks I will sleep 5 hours or less, and that includes a good amount of drinking or going to bars each night. From there I will go to 8 to 10 hours. Or the fluctuation of 6 to 8 hours and taking a 1 to 3 hour nap. It actually sucks. There is no consistency and 50% of the time I feel very fatigued. I cannot get a set pattern and have had trouble sleeping or getting to sleep since I can remember remembering.
For me it is either too little or too much. Oh well. |

6 but I need more (probably 8) and I catch up on weekends by sleeping in. The average person requires 8 hours of sleep to function optimally - lots of people get less and are always exhausted; some people need more but feel they're ok without it but studies show that they're not as productive or as fast on mental tasks. But, there are lots of people that function perfectly on less, like 4 hours.
I think there is one person recorded that only needed 1 hour of sleep. I think it was a woman and she would just stay up all night reading because nobody else was up with her. I think they found that her brain got as much REM sleep in 1 hour as most of us do in 8 hours. I don't remember the details. |
Around 6-7, although i find i work better being "overtired" and feel shit when i've had too much sleep.

Even as a kid, 4-5 hours was all I would sleep and that was fine. I could go to sleep in seconds and wake up as fast. But the last couple of years health problems and meds stop me sleeping more than an hour or two at a time, so I'm spending more time in bed than ever, but still constantly tired.

7 and 8 hours here.. Usually from midnight till 8 or 7 in the morning.
