do you think this is a scam ?

A guy is selling a 7 grand camera for $650 dollars, I wrote him and asked why so cheap. This was his answer your thoughts?

Hi
My name is Chris and I live in TX.The item is new with 12 months
international warranty( with all standard accessories ) . It is an unwanted gift, bought for my
birthday and I want to sell it asap!
Here is how I want to go about delivery and payment for the product which will be through TNT and
will also give you the chance to inspect the product before I receive the payment for.
I will explain to you step by step how this will work.
A. First you have to send me your shipping information (your name and address).
1. After I have received your shipping info, I'll go to a TNT Location and I will leave the
product onto your name and address as the intended receiver.
2. TNT will check it to see that the unit was placed with all the papers and to see that is
legal.
B. You will receive a notification from TNT as a confirmation that the product is in their custody
and also, that the product has been tested.
1.TNT will send you an invoice, and if everything is in order, they will deliver the product to
your door step.
2. After you will receive the product and you will be completely satisfied with it, you will
instruct TNT to release the payment information to me, so I can collect my money.
C. If by any reason, you will not be satisfied with the product, you will return the product to
TNT with no expenses.
I will pay for the shipping and you will acquit the fee for the transferred amount .
Let me know if we can do this!
Thanks

If they're a reputable escrow company or something similar, then you're not at risk. You're just getting an insane deal. Otherwise, I would say scam.

Seems like something he has done on others. The email is long and one that maybe he has sent many people for various items. He also seems like an expert scammer, no one goes into all that hassel of TNT bullshit if they are looking to sell it ASAP (as he says at the start)...I say don't take the risk unless you don't care about loosing$650.

We are in receipt of your recent enquiry regarding goods that you believe have been identified as processed through TNT.

Unfortunately, we must inform you that the services allegedly provided in this instance are not offered by TNT and we have passed the content and details of your communication to TNT Express Security who gatherinformation of this nature.

We would advise you not to use any further services relating to this method of payment in relation to TNT consignments, and would also recommend that you contact your local Police Service if you feel that you are the subject of an offence of Fraud.

PS If you end up with his ID in any way - DOB "real name" or "real location" chances are he can be checked out.

Claims to be in Texas? Just tell him you need to establish tech details (any bullshit stuff) and get a phone number - from that, a physical address.

PS. While chatting.. remember to ask if he had a good birthday and what date? Also slip in he sounds young and lucky to have friends who give him $7k gifts and "how old are you?". If he is scamming - easy to get his background from that data.

Why sell a $7k camera for $650 when it would sell on ebay in 3 days for $3k absolute minimum. Because it doesnt exist - stay away

Maybe does, maybe not

Either way.. I'd bet 80% on that it prob does exist and is the proceeds of carding and the guy is under 30 years of age and already has a rap sheet. Could possibly be a college student and even more possible - he is totally dumb and operating from college or his real home address.

It's also the reason he needs to have an unused "birthday present" - no receipt available.

For me, the card scamming scenario where the camera does exist, is less realistic than the "doesnt exist at all" probability. Card Scammers would probably have tons of shady mates to sell a $7k camera to for $650 - saddo email scammers probably dont.

Either way, i think most people agree that its a crock of shit.

Suggest another escrow company, and see what he says, if he says no thanks, it's a scam, if he is ok with it, then probably just a great deal. People sometimes sell gifts from ex's real cheap as a way to get back at them.

I'd be inclined to say scam on this one, but killer deals really do happen. I bought a slightly used Nikon N70 Digital Camera on Craigs List last week for $75. It was from a college kid that was selling a ton of shit to get vacation money. I don't think he had a clue as to the value.

"TNT is aware that attempts have been made to mislead Internet shoppers at e.g. eBay by the fraudulent use of the TNT name and brand, through false e-mails and web sites that seem to originate from TNT.

The fraudulent communication typically concerns an unknown third-party request for advance wire transfer of money to Western Union to pay for goods ordered on the internet, before the goods will be allegedly shipped by TNT.

We advise all customers to beware of such requests for advance on-line payments, and that the existence of a consignment number (or tracking number) is not necessarily proof that a consignment is in the custody or control of TNT.

If you are in any doubt as to the authenticity of any TNT communication or whether TNT is in fact delivering a shipment intended for you, please contact us through the details listed on your country TNT web site. You can select a country TNT web site in the top right corner of http://www.tnt.com/country/en_generic..html."
