Avoiding bumping into people in busy locations
I was cruising around the city today and it seemed busier than usual. I seemed to be using alot of energy weaving in and out of these people and avoiding hitting people at the last second by turning my shoulders, etc.
Anyway I noticed no one that I would have hit if I didn't use an emergency avoidance tactic at the last second made any attempt to avoid hitting me. At first I just figured that I beat them to it so they didn't bother to take evasive action since I already had. So as a bit of a social experiment I decided to make no effort what so ever to avoid bumping into people for the rest of the day to see if I was really just moving before these people did or if they just weren't going to move at all. My conclusion: Most people would rather run into someone that make any effort to move at all. I spent the rest of my time in the city bashing into people (usually shoulder to shoulder) as they couldn't be bothered to do anything about the obvious collision. Now I'm not a giant scary guy but even people smaller than me didn't seem to care if I bowled them over. So what do you do in these situations. |

Dude.. try not to be such a BETA MALE and make other people move for you... or at least don't move until they've made an effort to start to move out of the way. People aren't moving because they feel that they have more right to the pavement than you do, because you aren't MASCULINE enough. You must be the ALPHA MALE!

hahah been there done that.
But I'm not exactly a small dude ... I have a larger pair of shoulders then anyone I know. ![]() On that pic I should have been about 255 pounds ... maybe a little heavier. So people move when I go arround... except big beta males on steroids. I normally try to avoid people thought. |
