I'm not going to spare the speech, unless there are VERY SPECIFIC circumstances, declawing a cat is cruel. You are smarter to teach your cat to claw in the proper place.. Declawing is mutilation and it will eventually cripple your cat and cause them immense pain (as the muscles they would use when they normally extend their claws atrophe and die), as well as costing you a lot of medical bills to treat the arthritis and subsequent other medical problems that come with amputating a cat's toe to the first knuckle (Imagine someone doing that to you!). You have to socialize them properly to children. Most people aren't willing to put in the time, but if you do, you will have a pet for life that will never lash out. I have three children and two cats and my cats have *NEVER EVER* injured my children, not even when they were babies (but you ALSO have to be willing to teach your children to be kind and gentle to the cat, people who let their kids hurt animals then wonder why the animal hurts the child are fucking idiots). It's a matter of being willing to take a little time to train the cat. Declawing won't prevent child injuries if the kid is hurting the animal, if you think the front claws are bad have you ever had a cat dig their BACK claws into you? The ones that are meant to rip out the soft underbellies of prey? OUCH!!!!!! My cats also NEVER claw stairs or funiture.. get it a proper scratching post that's tall enough (it has to be as tall as the cat is stretched out at least full grown) and make it appealing to them and they will use it.

If you want fluffy, you can go domestic longhair (cheaper easier to find) or Persian or Himalayan (be prepared to pay some thick dollars for these breeds though).

And most kittens come littertrained. It's something their mother teaches them, not neccessarily an person, but when you get a new kitten you simply have to "remind" them frequently (just like any baby) where the litterbox is (putting them in it) for a few weeks.. eventally they just go there when they need to "go".

That depends.. how much do you want to spend in vet bills down the road?

Thanks for the link
as I stated before I did not know what was all done during declawing
I thought it was something normal and not cruel :)

as for vet pills - that should not really matter as it would part of our family and it is something you come to expect :)

A lot of people think that... That's why the Humane Society of America put out a statement regarding declawing and other proceedures of it's ilk.

http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/ca...ure/index.html

It's good to know you will be committed to your new pet, and if you ever need cat advice, I have TRAINED many.. and when I mean trained I mean they come when they're called, stay off my counters and out of the garbage, do their business only in their litterboxes and they don't destroy my carpets or furniture.

Wow, that page is so full of shit that not even I could swallow it down, and I?m a white Christian conservative pro-lifer. Just check out this little quote:

?Besides the physical mutilation, consider what declawing may do to the cat's emotions, the personality changes that may occur. Knowing he has not the means to defend himself, some cats follow the precept of the best defense is a good offense, and will bite at the least provocation (and it may truly be the least provocation.) Others become depressed and lose the loving personality that made you choose him to start with.?

LMAO. Cats having emotions, that?s rich. What?s next, are you going to try and say that cats don?t intend to take humans as their slaves within the next fifty years? Cats are heartless creatures, devoid of any emotions. That?s why they retain their independence, unlike docile dogs. Cats are the biggest threat to humanity since Yanni records. You and your PETA and ALF and TALIBAN organizations would really love that we remain in the dark wouldn?t you? Its people like you who make me gut-wrenchingly sick, you pro cat people love to just pretend that the problem of feline domination doesn?t exist and that cats just want to be our friends.

The following video was taken in Prague by an undercover H.A.M.A.S (Humans Against Mighty Animal Superiors) agent only days ago and completely disproves you and your kinds arguments.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=QiXuz...lking%20 cats

This is certifiable PROOF that cats are gaining a language and developing culture and are plotting to take us out, slowly but surely, within the next few decades. Sure, you pro PETA and ALF and TALIBAN mother fuckers will claim it?s just them wanting to mate or getting upset over the other infringing on their territory, but the H.A.M.A.S knows better. With breaking irrefutable evidence like this, maybe we can convince enough humans out there to do their part to stem cat evolution and give humanity a fighting chance against the growing feline menace.

1. i think anywhere between 3-6 months. Really depends on the cats weight more then it's age. Has to weigh enough to be able to take the anesthesia.
2. Any long haired species. Himilayans would be one example
3. Cats will pretty much train themselves. Just make sure to manually place them in the box the 1st few times they eat and drink, you'll never have to worry about it. If you don't want a cat to piss everywhere, get a female and get her fixed. Unfixed males tend to spray. Ive had my female cat going on 8 years now and she's not once ever peed anywhere other then the box

Go back to alabama you fucktard

Stallion 07-05-2006 06:24 AM

1) You can declaw a kitten once it reaches 4 pounds.

2) Depends if your looking for a specific type breed or just a cat from the Humane Society. If you want fluffy get a long haired cat.

3) Cats learn to use their litter box very quickly. Set up the litter box, show the cat where it is, and set the kitten in the litter box. There ya go. Cats are not like dogs as they do not take as long to potty train. lol

Fuck you, you mother fucking assclone feline supporter. Yes, assCLONE. You're not nearly good enough to be a true assclown, instead you are just a clone of one and you seem to be missing a bit of dna there you shitty reject. Go back to china you communist fool, and do your job and eat some cats. You're one of the main problems in this situation. As your country developed throughout the last several decades you found it no longer to eat cats as a necessity, instead only as a delicacy. The careful balance that mother nature had put in place has been broken by you rice fucks. GET BACK TO WORK and start eating. You?ve got a long way to go before you catch up.

Please tell me this guy is just someone trying to be funny...

Holly 07-05-2006 08:04 AM

Seriously, get a fish or something.

If you have the pet before your child, then that's a different story. Personally, I don't think birth to about 4-5 years old is really a good time to bring a kitten or puppy into the house. Kids during that age are gonna be rough on a new pet, even when they're trying to be gentle.

Start with an outside animal for now and wait until she's a little bit older for the inside one. But do *not* declaw a cat.

Heh. When cats start to learn English, keep telling yourself that bud. Cats are already raping humans by the hordes. Within twenty years cats will have an extremely well developed culture as well as language. At first cat owners will coo and go gaa-gaa, saying how 'cute' it is watching their cats talk with the neighbors cats. Do you think they will still be going gaa-gaa over their talking kitties when they are being forced into gas chambers by the hundreds? By the THOUSANDS? Cats pose the single greatest threat to humanity's existence and it is up to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US to take up arms against this great feline menace. I for one will NEVER bow down to feline oppressors. We fought two world wars, humans fighting humans. If we don't do something soon, World War III will be fought between humans and the feline race and if groups like PETA, ALF, and the TALIBAN have their way we'll be on the loosing side of that war.

Sarah_Jayne 07-05-2006 08:11 AM

Don't get a cat if it can't have claws. If you can't have claws around your child than you child isn't old enough for their to be a cat in the house.

Find a pet that's more suited to your family without needing to be mutilated.

If you don't care that it's a cruel practice, you should care that you're more likely to have behavioral problems out of them.

I have to agree, I have to kitties and they are not declawed and I have no problems, they know better and I provided all that they needed to keep from clawing the furniture, if you take the time with him he will not destroy your property but remember this:

Dogs have owner and Cats have Staff....:1orglaugh
