good post not sure what the final drive ratio is on this car, however, there are plenty of uses for 6 gears. Most performance drivers with narrow gears will skip a gear when dragging, however, when pulling out of turns it is nice to have that narrow power band so you can get that engine turning at the right speed to pull you out with the power at your toes. I don't know how well the car does on the skid pad or how well it throws it's weight around but there's a reason F1 has so many gears. |

F1 cars usually have 6 or 7 speeds and they need that many because their torque doesn't really kick in until not far short of the 19,000 or so rpm the engines max out at. So if the engine isn't kept spinning fast, they wouldn't be capable of the acceleration they need. |
I have not had stick in a few years, and I had no idea they were at 6 gears.

Yep, Honda is running at about 19,500 RPM - even tho they are extreemly light engines it still has a high power curve and you'll slow down if you only had 4 or 5 gears to choose from to come out of the corner. Again, i don't know what the final drive ration of the stang is, or what the top RPM, but i'm sure those gear will help it get out of it's way when pushing its self out of a corner. worst case, you'll get great gas milage if you can keep it under 50 and in 6th gear. |
this is hilarious.. Did you actually buy a car that you can't drive?
Or are you able to drive a 5 gear car but not a 6..? Isn't there a class to take for you american ppl who wants to drive a stick? I mean, it takes at least some practise.. |
