What Percentage of Visitors Use Cookies?

I've heard people mention that cookies are a dying technology, and that i should avoid using them. I don't know how true that is...

Anyways, i'd like to know, roughly, what percentage of users actually have cookies enabled.

Thanks, it's just that the guy i have working on a program for me suggested one way to achieve something we wanted to do was to use cookies server side, but after reading about cookies, i wasn't convinced it was a good idea. Cheers man.

Hrm... well as a programmer -- it pisses me off that anyone would be against cookies... there are A LOT of very fucking useful things you can do ONLY with cookies...

I think a useful number of surfers w/ cookies is still there -- and I'm willing to bet there are still a lot of sites (like banking sites) that require cookies in order to access content...

Fortunately for me, my scripts only demand that a certain % of surfers have cookies enabled -- so even if Europe bans cookies, my scripts will still work

I'm with ya FLY. It shits me that something so powerful & useful may be phased out.

In my new pay site, cookies will be responsible for bypassing the login process of existing members. Non cookied users will have to enter their details for every session.

I say HA to that.

And what harm do they do? There is a freakin huge misconception regarding the 'security' of cookies; a helluvalot of people seem to believe they pose a threat to their privacy or security. Who gives a flying fuck if webmasters can track surfer's usage and history? It's far from personal information.

To the ill-informed drama queens and beaurocrats: Go fuck yourself.
