Soccer is not the world's sport. It is the rest of the worlds sport.

If the european soccer associations hadn't been misled about the United States, they would fix the world cup to get U.S. citizens interested. If that ever happened, they would make more money than they ever thought about. Instead, American's will just continue to spend their money on American sports. You know, the ones with the biggest, strongest and fastest athletes in the world.

once you get to know the players, the people, the countries, the clubs you might even enjoy the sport aswell.. I wouldn't enjoy the bears playing the bengals.. I don't know who anyone is.. I don't know their history and have never heard of the coaches.. how the heck can I enjoy their game?

america is different, but who cares, enjoy hockey and baseball as much as you'd like.. you're the only few I'm afraid...

It seems to me that you hate the fact that america isnt part of the biggest sports event in the world. Nobody cares if the US sends a team or not.

I love the fact that you mention perspective. Just because someone is generally a good athlete doesnt mean they will be the best at any sport. Someone who has a talent for hockey might not be very good at soccer or baseball.

Absolute rubbish. Any sport is absorbing if you take the time to get into it and not if you don't. And if you click your other brain cell into gear, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out that any sport with global appeal on a huge scale has something going for it, even if you cannot figure out what.

Here's some perspective in regard to "soccer / football" from someone who could give a fuck what "sport" they are watching:

1. The players are definitely athletes - to be able to run around chasing a ball for that duration takes serious stamina.

2. There is skill and thought in having the right players in the right position at the right time to pass a ball via foot so it can be kicked into a net.

3. It's one of the most boring sports on this planet to watch.

I enjoyed playing soccer as a kid. It was fun. Watching that shit, though, is a nightmare of boredom.

There is nothing more boring in this world than Baseball. Which is for some reason deemed "America's Past time"... not sure who voted on this, but they are some truely boring fucksticks.

Baseball is boring to play and even more boring to watch.

You drive by baseball fields in America, they are all empty or they are fenced off so you can't use them (as is much of America, fenced off). You drive by any soccer field in Europe, there are adults or kids playing on every single one of them. When I went to Spain there was a soccer field about every block. All filled with people playing.

soccer is the worlds game because ANYONE can play...poor countries cant play anything else...not to say thats a bad thing but thats obviously why is so popular. Doesnt take much to put together a soccer game. Playing football, baseball, hockey, need expensive equipment and in the case of hockey you need also need either an indoor arena or cold climate. So dont think soccer is a better game simply because lots of people play/watch. Personally I like all the sports mentioned.

Very solid point.

Kind of like kick the can or kick ball - doesn't take much to play, yet it can be physically stimulating and healthy to participate in. It should be more encouraged in America for children to play sports, with our rampant diabetes and obesity and what not.

In regard to this thread, thought, I'd personally rather watch a pick-up game of kick the can on a street corner than a world class soccer match. That's just me, though.

I used to like to go to Soccer games in highschool. They almost always got into fights. Don't really see any fights in Football, kind of silly to take a swing at someone with more padding on them then the Mars Rover landing gear.
