Actually, I have something like 2500 MP3s. Most of which I burned myself from CDs I own. I own a few hundred CDs. I have a portable MP3 player and a car MP3 player which, as the name implies, require MP3s. When I hit IRC, I am looking for something that isn't released yet. Like the new Eminem CD. I wanted to hear it. I downloaded it. I put it on my MP3 player to listen to while I run. The album was okay, not great but still worth the money. Incidentally, I purchased the CD yesterday afternoon at the same time I purchased Medal of Honor for the PC. I do have MP3s of a few songs that I do not own the CD. Those are strictly out of print items that I am constantly scouring Ebay for or were never released on an album. Chances are if the MP3s I hear are good, I buy the CD. If they suck, I delete the MP3. Can you not even swing $12-$16 for a damned CD? If not, that is just pathetic.


Anyway, don't try to justify theft by saying "everyone does it" because everyone clearly does not do it.

no, it's not the same. If I download an mp3, I listen to it immediately and make a decision. I either go buy it or I delete the file. Takes 5 minutes. Not a month. No different than if I hear the song on the radio and go buy it. Big difference from cracking someone's software. Don't put me in your category.

your argument doesn't hold water mailman. Most music artists actually support mp3's for the purpose of getting their music out to the masses and selling more CDs.... that's the way it was intended to be used. Sample a song, like it? Buy it.

And your TV analogy is worng as well. If I bought a tv and didn't like the quality, yes.... I would take it back. But I think they would have a problem if you used it for a month and then tried to bring it back. So yes.... time DOES matter. Most software gives you a trial period with which to do the very same thing, for the very same purpose: Getting their software out to the masses to try and buy. And in fact, it's normally a much longer period.... usually a month or better. If you can't make a decision to buy or not to buy in that time.... you're stealing.

It is hard for me to make a decision and like i say i just want to expand my trial period... :)

If I'm not mistaken, you told me you have been doing this for 2 1/2 years, maybe it was only 1 1/2 years, I don't really remember. Nor do I care. If you have been around that long, why do you need a FTP client now? What have you been using? Continue to use the same software. If you have dropped your old client because you like CuteFTP better, that means you have sampled it long enough to determine whether or not you mean to purchase the copy.

I've had various versions of CuteFTP for over 4 years, haven't used anything else. But I'll stick with this. So, who's been around longer?

I hate theivery. For richer or poorer I've purchased ever piece of shareware that I've ended up using for web site creation, image processing, se submission, ftp... the list goes on.

If you don't support the small guys you're doing us all a dis-service. The best stuff for image processing and gallery creation is the shareware that costed $25-50.

Stealing is stealing, it's futile to try and justify it. In the end, what comes around goes around... much in life is about Karma, and if you steal... well, good luck.
