http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...060623-10.html

I guess he meant what he said regarding protection of private property.

Don't be surprised if Bush ends up being a new man regarding many things. He's changed a lot since he started. I think good sense is seeping in. It's gotta be a mother of a job to be president. Before you know it it's over and you realize how much you knew and should have known.

yeah. or it could just be that the republicans as a party believe more in localized government instead of more federal control and power. but hey, its only been that way for about the last 150 years. the democratic party wants to keep the law of immenent domain where it is and even expand on it to give the federal government even more control, the republicans have wanted to narrow the law for a long time and now that there is enough public pressure surrounding it they are able to do so. why the fuck is everyone so surprised by this shit? doesn't anybody study political science anymore?

I dont know about that homey. If the terrorists were able to overthrow the government (and im not saying that they could), i'm pretty sure they could take away our "freedoms". They also do a pretty good job of taking away peoples freedoms by killing them.

hmm, he just created a new national monument (park) a few days ago as well, much to the surprise of conservationists. the park is in the ocean but is an area the size of the entire state of california.

perhaps he will make some positive contributions after all

Maybe the government has already been taken over.

But I do recall that the people who created and signed the Patriot Act I,II all had nice business suits on. No turbins or bombs strapped to there belly.

A town locally is trying to use this Imminent Domain to snatch land from Walmart to keep them from moving in.

Walmart must be lobbying pretty hard for this one.

This was a political statement!! A welcome one though!

Doesn't affect states rights. Don't know what affect it has if say federal $ are involved?? Even TIF is state controlled.....

How often does the Federal government take property and transfer it to a provate corporation. Not very often as I know.

So the whole topic is more of a local thing right now as I see it.

Lay opinion, I am not an attorney.

Here's my official prediction on who will catch Osama Bin Laden:

Bin Laden will be caught by a courageous group of American military men. Soon after his capture it will be revealed that the leader or one of the key players in his capture will be revealed to be an illegal immigrant who got into the military.

Weirder things have happened.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't really read alot of executive orders, but doesn't this last section pretty much make the rest of the order worthless?

(d) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity against the United States, its departments, agencies, entities, officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

If this gets rid of eminent domain then it's a good thing. Democrats have never been much for private property right but I sill couldn't believe when they voted that in.
