http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...060623-10.html
I guess he meant what he said regarding protection of private property. |
Its about time the president read the constitution and protected the people.
|
And this helps me how?

Supposed to stop the law that was passed where property coould be taken from an individual for profit. Imminent domain. ( not sure how to spell that )
|
Or it could be just that there are elections coming up in Nov. and Bush wants to win all the points he can.

hmm, he just created a new national monument (park) a few days ago as well, much to the surprise of conservationists. the park is in the ocean but is an area the size of the entire state of california.
perhaps he will make some positive contributions after all :upsidedow |

But I do recall that the people who created and signed the Patriot Act I,II all had nice business suits on. No turbins or bombs strapped to there belly. |
so if a city wants to take my house down to build a shopping mall, now they can't?
|
gb on the set.. what a crock. almost as if this was out there just for him to make a grandios stand against it. how fucked up is it that private interest could take your land for the purpose of econimic gain by private parties? how easy is it to nix that idea for poll numbers... in the wake of the recent killing of al-queda #2 i have a feeling some random bearded dude in afghanistan is about to become a 'captured' osama bin laden as november mid-terms approach. jeeze .. yes bush has changed his stripes and now is interested in the advancement of our people instead of the advancement of traditional but antiquated u.s. economics like alcohol, tobacco, oil, telco, and combustion

A town locally is trying to use this Imminent Domain to snatch land from Walmart to keep them from moving in.
Walmart must be lobbying pretty hard for this one. |

They still can typically under state law. |
This was a political statement!! A welcome one though!
Doesn't affect states rights. Don't know what affect it has if say federal $ are involved?? Even TIF is state controlled..... How often does the Federal government take property and transfer it to a provate corporation. Not very often as I know. So the whole topic is more of a local thing right now as I see it. Lay opinion, I am not an attorney. |

Bin Laden will be caught by a courageous group of American military men. Soon after his capture it will be revealed that the leader or one of the key players in his capture will be revealed to be an illegal immigrant who got into the military. Weirder things have happened. |

Jeez people...it's
EMINENT DOMAIN Not imminent domain. :1orglaugh They're going to take my house away, it's imminent :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
I'm not a lawyer and I don't really read alot of executive orders, but doesn't this last section pretty much make the rest of the order worthless?
(d) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity against the United States, its departments, agencies, entities, officers, employees, or agents, or any other person. |
he's still the biggest douchebag to ever walk this earth
|
If this gets rid of eminent domain then it's a good thing. Democrats have never been much for private property right but I sill couldn't believe when they voted that in. :disgust
