I'm arguing with two BMW owners. It's a no win situation. All i'm going to get is attempts at justifying flushing their money down the toilets.

Luckily you guys get very little depreciation. That might be do to the fact of the demand from 16-19 year olds for 3 series'

yes...the g35 that doesn't even sell a fraction of the 3 series. I'll see 25 3 series on the road before seeing 2 G35's.

Seriously Young, the 330CI is definitely a good ride. You're now talking about the best bang for the buck while I believe this thread is about the best ride. And 330ci is definitely the best, especially the version I had with the extra HPs and motorsport styling. Calling that a girly ride is silly too... but i guess Metaman never drove one or he thinks his aunt's green 318 is the same as any other bmw.

You mentioned Audi and Mercedes...you don't think those are "overly expensive"?

shit man...seriously

BTW unless you are talking about a Aston Martin, BMW/Mercedes top offerings, Mid-end Porsche's, Ferrari and such anything pretty much you say will not be quasi-unique/exclusive

Unless you import yourself a Alfa Romeo or so ;)

BTW you got it all wrong kids go after Honda Civics, Nissan's (btw ever wonder why they have been planning Infiniti Europe launch for years ;) ? ),etc...

You should be sued by Merc by putting the G35 as an alternative to the SL...tho I guess that explains why they do sell over there

talking about it is not rare, but talking about it with people who really drive the cars, that's rare indeed. but fortunately we have e46 fanatic.com

ya i know. i used to post on a car forum and the g35 vs 330 thing was a constant battle. i made my choice for my reasons and you guys made your choices for yours.

I have nothing against BMW. i love the e39 M5. Probaly still one of my favorite cars. I just have something against people who love BMW's because they are BMW's (the kids in the debadged 323's with the M3 side grills). But you two seem to know what you're talking about.

Well in Netherlands and Germany the people that drive them is alot different (used this countrys as example)

just to show that the demographics plays a big role in all this.

;)

but I get what you are saying, I feel the exact sameway about a car I wanted to buy now (its becoming very common).

Everybody wants to be exclusive one way or another

i agree with you there... bangle needs to go

and we're not talking here about bmw vs benz (you were just comparying g35 to bmw which cannot be compared at all) but if we are talking about benz:

i would take m3 over c55
i would take e500 over 550
i would take cls500 over 645ci
i would take 760li over s550

as you can see, i love benz as well, since they make amazing cars

Only reason I compare the two is because I have 2 friends who have one of each...and both considered the other before making their decisions. The e55 came and went....alot of trade ins

Well here, diesel sort rules, plus we are among the biggest car-taxes Euro countrys, so pricing is ALOT and I mean alot different ;)

For example the S500 costs 170.000? (loaded with some extras) and from those 70.000? are only for taxes...

While i'm talking as a enthusiast, I will not pretend I own or can afford a M3/M5, nor I would buy one if I could, I belive that when you can't get them and can only "play for a bit" your desire grows up alot (like it seems to be your case with top of the line cars)..

To be honest cars are one of the my biggest motivator to work ;)

OBS: Tho if I went to the US I could more easily buy a nice car :p

the 330 e46 is a great car but i can't agree with it being better then my G. I've only been in a 330 a couple of time...never drove one...not even when i was shopping around. I was instantly turned off by the price to features as well as the snobby salesman with me being only 21 at the time.

Yeah cars used to be my motivation too.
And as amazing as a fast ride might seem, you get used to everything... and in the end you will end up working for something even better. But it doesn't matter though... just be happy with the current stuff you own or you will always think youre not doing things right and will be unhappy ;) with that being said, i need to get back doing something usefull hehe.

Thats very true.

The friend with the M5 is in distribution....i'll let you make your own assumptions.

The one with the CLS55 AMG owns a liquor store in the middle of the ghetto.

both bust their asses in their respective trades. I am still 1 or 2 cars away from getting an M or an AMG.

Thank god for unleaded

whatever floats your boat but you should of drove it, i'm sure you'd be in 330 by now and if salesman gives you attitude, fuck him, go to the next one... you are buying a car for yourself, not if the salesman is nice

I'll have to get pictures of my friends CLS 55 AMG White on Tan. He claims his AMG wheel package is one of a kind and not even the dealer knew about the ordering code. I'm 6'2 and the car comes right up to just under my chest. Oddly the engine sounds like pure American muscle.

Anyways, good marketing on BMW's part. Got me thinking about their cars a lot!

with 8 series discontinue BMW entered a fully commercial stage for their more expensive models. Meaning if the market can handle 1million M3 6 and 7 series cars, they'll deliver 1 mil of them. It's like the IBM of automobiles, you know its good machine, but nothing exotic on it.

proven even futher by their decision to bring back the 6 series instead of the 8 series because they decided there was more of a market for it.

This is true, but their owners have the exotic mentality attached to them. That's the greatest achivement of these big 3 german automobiles. There's more psychology research involved in the design and marketing of a car than we think.

i'm convinced you know nothing about cars man...

I would never trade my 540i for an a6
