i wont be using your services. ever.

I don't understand how you can blame the host for his stupidity. Anybody who takes the time to read the boards should know that you need mega bandwidth for a listing on the Hun.

It's not their obligation to contact him. What could they have done for him anyway at that point? It was already too late the moment his gallery was listed.

So he can only blame himself ....

yeah, let's just hope he forgives me for all the traffic lost to error pages. At least I WAS NOT redirecting them.

Guess all virtual accounts are not created equal, I have a couple of dedicated machines at webair and I also have virtual accounts at phatservers, reflected and swiftco and have had hun postings on all of them over the past few years and other than an occasional overage charge, I've never had a problem with hun listing on any of my virtual accounts. I actually had 2 galleries on the hun at once last year on my reflected virtual account and it handled it fine

OG LennyT 06-22-2006 05:06 PM

live and learn from your stupidity... dont blame the host

Here are the facts:

Your account was throttled, but not shut down.

You are using a virtual hosting package.... Never good with the hun...

You used 4 times your bandwidth limit for the month in 1 day.

Since you are on the virtual SHARED server, we throttled your account to protect our other paying customers.

Powerstorm Hosting has been nominated twice for xbiz awards, and while we do not go out of our way to advertise all over the place, we keep our own little corner of the net mostly tidy, beyond temporary problems.

Someone from powerstorm will be contacting you shortly to discuss upgrade options.

Damn, remind me not to ever check you guys out.

That reply was the most unprofessional one I've ever seen!

Thats almost salt in the wounds. We will contact you to upgrade but not contact you when there are problems.

Not to say he didnt made a newb mistake, but shit we all have. One of the newb mistakes i dont make any more is fuck around with hosts with poor service. Check webair or natnet.

Like I said, I didn't mean to diss the host. I've came here for advice and support which btw is plenty of. This community here is so friendly and helpful, and people here seem to keep their focus on work, unlike so many other junk forums. The name is rather un-inviting but this place rocks :D

No contact yet though made by powerstorm hosting, maybe I should rethink my hosting options.

See sig for a host with 1 TB bandwidth and 20 GB diskspace for around $40ish per year, when you use the promocode "HELPME". :thumbsup

gecko 06-24-2006 07:04 PM

that would suck.. I had that happen to me a while back

babymaker 06-24-2006 07:06 PM

damn, that sux :( My first hun listing awhile back was on a virtual acct at cyberwurx and i had like 4 2MB vids on it and got about 300K uniques was fast as shit lol and no trouble....massive BW bill tho :) but sales ocvered it lucky and were revsshare so i lost the first month to overhead but most stil rebill to this day :) my main host kicks ass has handled tons of hun attacks but dedicated now.

babymaker 06-24-2006 07:06 PM

-fuck it double posted- think this board is host at his servers :1orglaugh

stev0 06-24-2006 08:22 PM

Most good hosts dont shut down your BW when you hit a good streak, they might contact you if there is a problem and let you know you need more, but like i posted i did hun movie listing with 4 mpgs on a cyberwurx virtual and it was fine smoked like 400-500 gigs in a 2 days they didnt cap me or shut me down...i just had to pay the bill lol but that was fine. Imaging it wasn't just the hun and google fucked up and liked a site or your and gave you #1 free porn for 2 weeks and the whole time your host caps you or shuts off the account, you don't want to be in that situation. Most hosts don't do that if they are reliable. :2 cents:

Phil 06-25-2006 03:02 PM

ha-ha-ha.. what a load of bullshit. Hosters would make a kill charging overage on virtual account ...

jimb 06-25-2006 04:24 PM

In the future, we can do Load Balancing between servers and server clusters. You need to realize that with a top hun list you can pull over 100 mbps if you have a movie gallery with 20 second clips :)

Hit me up if you need some more information, I use to submit and buy spots on the hun. We use to have 3 load balanced servers for each listing per day.

Had 2 galleries on The Hun this month. Both those were ran on a virtual account with Atcihosting never had a problem. They handled the traffic great and although I burned a ton of bandwidth I still made money. In the nine months I've been with them I've had maybe 5 minutes of downtime. They answer every question I have within an hour and go out of their way to fix problems no matter how minor.

Samantha-creationcrew 06-25-2006 05:27 PM

bump bump.....

sad to hear that ... kick your ex to the dumpsite

scottybuzz 06-25-2006 05:30 PM

tell me someone, whats virtual hosting please?

rowan 06-25-2006 05:36 PM

It's probably too late now, but I'm amazed that no one has stated what should be obvious:

Get a dedicated server and get your domain moved over ASAP.

You could have still made several sales if you had acted fast enough.
