Opinions on Fireworks vs. Photoshop
I just restored my system to it's factory state, something I do once or twice a year to get back to basics, get rid of unneccessary bloat my system has accumulated, and get my system running at a faster speed.
So, I just reinstalled my Dreamweaver MX Suite, and I realized I've never even opened Fireworks. And I'm wondering if I really need to reinstall Photoshop. This is what I do in PS: I run a noise filter (Digital Gem) and a color filter if necessary (Digital SHO I believe) on my pics, then edit out any bad blemishes, then crop to the right size and save. I figure out layouts, (using layers), slice them up, and then finish them in DW or GoLive (which I can't even find now, so I won't be using anymore until I can locate my damn disc). Occassionally I create abutton or a banner or some kind of graphic like that. Can Fireworks handle those tasks? If I can, and well, I can't see the advantage of having PS on here too, using up a lot of space and resources to run? But I have zero experience with it, so what the heck do I know? Enlighten me, oh wise ones, lol! Thanks. |

I've been suing photoshop since ver 4.x so I'm kind of set in my ways and I'm not really looking forward to making the switch if it does turn out to be better. As it is pretty much the air that I breath I really havent spent enough time in fireworks so give you an educated opinion, but i did do a search and found this article to be interesting.
I hope this helps. http://www.wilshireone.com/article/4...s-vs-photoshop |

Fireworks and dreamweaver work well together, and Fireworks can easily handle all the tasks you mentioned.

I've used Fireworks for laying out sites, but nothing beats PS for photo processing, imo.
