What program do you use to burn DVDs?
i'm using this program "mydvd" that came with my dell, but it can't even read certain files. i need a better program...

ok i'm using nero, but when i click "Make Your Own DVD-Video" it just minimizes the window and does nothing.....???

If you are trying to copy a DVD, use DVD-Shrink like others have suggested, or DVDfabdecrypter. Nero can't copy a retail DVD... if you are trying to make a DVd-Video from your own clips, dunno why it's fucking up, should work great.
