New Mercedes CL, BMW 5 Series to get refresh (Already), New BMW M3 - Die Bangle

O.K. First off.... I was really excited to see what was going on with the new Mercedes CL. I had wanted to lease a CLS 500 up until my friend purchased a CLS 55AMG. So I was excited to see what the 2008 CL550 might offer.....up until now.

So dissapointing. The current gen CL is probaly one of the most beautiful coupes on the road. Right up there with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's IMO. They took it back to the look it had in the early 90's. For those that don't know the CL was originally intended to be a two door version of the Mercedes class leading S. It looks like thats where they are bringing it back to.

The New Bangle-less M3

Gone..everything I hated about the 3 series. Rumors are that the new 5 series and most upcoming models including the new 7 series are going to follow these lines.

To the people who bought the 5 series. Prepare for extreme depreciation...the car gets refreshed with changes to the rare tail lights and front head lights.

The CL just looks like a 2 door CLS. No reason to do that. Just go CLS.

Personally, I'm on the fence on an SL. Pound for pound it's still the best overall car on the road but something tells me they will be upgrading that within a year.

Sure the lines. But the front headlights, grill and rear are extremely different. Rear pics are available over at http://www.autospies.com

As far as the SL goes...you're better off waiting....its going to see a face lift to compete with the M6, the Infiniti GTR, and the Lexus Super Coupe.

No way. It reminds me of the discontinued 8 series. The M3 is made to look mean...and that my friend is fucking mean.

Plus...theres still a little disguise on it (i think).

The 8-series was badass. But, to me the back end (esp taillights) still reminds me of an older Civic

maybe its just me. hopefully the production version will be more to my liking

Ya I know exactly what Civic you are talking about....a 92'

oh and just as a side not the battle was between bringing the Super Coupe 8 Series or the Smaller 6 back from the dead ... and BMW decided to go with the 6. I wonder if we'll ever see another 8.

The final price tag on the 8 would have been way too high. So they went with the 6.

The 6 came back because of the demand in the Neimann Marcus Christmas catalog a few years back, so I would think nothing is out of the realm of impossible.

That is the only BMW I would buy in a heartbeat. The 8 series was a beast back in the early to mid 90's. I wonder what they are waiting for?

Bangle made the E46 series. The 5 series and the 3. Everyone loves those.

I guess he just changed them before anyone else was ready, what i've been noticing is that the M5 looks awesome but all of the rest of the 5series aren't so good in looks. Probably the same with the M3.

My opinion is that BMW is going downhill regards to the looks of their cars ever since ~1994. I've owned nothing but older bimmers in the past 4 years and driven many new ones. The newer ones are great cars, but don't look anywhere near as good, and don't have that strong BMW character like the older ones do. Some of my favorites models are the E28, E30 and E24 with the E24 M6 being the all time favorite. (would post some pics, but the board isn't letting me post urls yet )
