Another elephant croaked thanks to LA's piss poor Zoo.

How frickin stupid to kill off elephants so we can spend a minute looking at them. They are lucky to live 40 years in a Zoo and average around 20-30 years of pain. In their natural habitat they average 60-70 years. They have to move to be able to build of the strength to sport around all that weight.

We are sad to report that 47-year-old Asian elephant, Gita, who has long suffered from chronic foot disease and arthritis that were a direct result of keeping her in inadequate conditions at L.A. Zoo, died this morning. Members of In Defense of Animals (IDA) and Los Angeles Alliance for Elephants will hold a demonstration Sunday at Los Angeles Zoo.

Please join us to demand L.A. Zoo to send the remaining elephants, Billy and Ruby, to an elephant sanctuary and to cease keeping elephants.

When: Sunday, June 11, 2006, 12:00 noon

elephants have some of the largest and most complex brain structures of all mammals, far surpassing that of humans. they posses great intelligence and an emotional capacity much like humans do, and they deserve to be treated with a bit more dignity than they often are.

People come to the zoo to see the elephants. I am sorry to say, there is no way they are going to send them back.
