Christ, we are in the wrong business. Yesterday I discovered a shitload of water pouring out of my drain tile... Major leak. I had the city come out and they looked at it, and said that it was on my end so all they could do was turn off the water. So I called a plumber, who had me call a Leak dectection service and the "Call before your dig" guys. So in like 30 minutes I have both those companys here... 300 bucks to find the leak and mark it, took about 5 minutes with the equipment they where using. And the marking of the underground utilitys was free. So now, My yards all painted up, a great big blue X marks the leak and I call the plumber back... First he tells me that they ccan come over tuesday... I'm Like your kidding me right? I have NO water and a house full of guests coming over Saturday... (Today) He's like, well I can come out Saturday morning, but it's going to run you double time and be around 3 thousand bucks to fix. Says if I wait till tues day, rate will be normal and about 2 grand. I tell him, the leaks only about 42 or so inches down and in the middle of my yard, But he says they need a back hoe and other equipment yada yada.. So I'm like fine, how much if I did the hole and get everything ready for you. He's like well, it would save your about 500 bucks. So, I'm thinking fuck it, for 500 bucks I'll did a hole and start digging. 3 hours later using a spade, I'm about 4 feet down and hit the water main, the fucking pipe is a 3/4 inch PVC ty pe line, which connects into my 3/4th inch copper line and the break is right at the connector between the two. So I run out to Home Depot and buy a foot of copper pipe a fitting some soilder etc, total cost 50 bucks, and only cause I have to buy the tools to do the job, Come home and fixed the leak in 10 minutes. SOOOO That fucker wanted 25 hunderd bucks for 10 minutes of actual work! I calling that com[pany on monday and going to ask them the reason and call them out on it. What a bunch of thieves. No, I have water, everything working grewat, holes filled in and new greass is seeded... total time of repair 5 hours, one guy and one shovel.
