Broken images question...
Just had this happen to me tonight and I can't figure out why, probably an easy one but I''' still ask for your help.
I went to a few different sites that I had images on, such as myspace profiles, and all I get were these broken image squares. I click on them and have them open in a new window in which they work fine, so I hit the back button and now boom! they are there and working fine. I thought this mabye had to do with that one site but I found it again on another one. Images are gone until you view them in a new window and then cllick back. WTF? I have emptied the cache and a few other things I could think of but still it happens. I don't get it? Anyone have idea's? Thanks! |

I don't think so. I can't figure it out because the images are hosted on my server...I'll look at my sig for example and the logo is gone, I select the link to my logo in my sig code and copy it in the URL and it shows up fine so I copy the URL anyway, (which is exactly the same as in my sig), then paste it into my sig code again and check my sig and then it appears!?! I'm at a total lose on this. I just wonder if it's only on my side or if surfers/viewers are seeing a broken image link?

some hootlink protection will do this..
like they wont allow the image to be viewed ina webpage but will allow them to be viewed when manually typed in.. so when you click it in the big pic its going manually not embedded ina webpage. then when you hit back button the manual version is whats cached..

i.e. your sig is broken , but if i manually go to http://www.readylube.com/images/read...20_60_sale.gif the pic shows up fine , then when i hit back button your sig shows up again..
so yes , everyone is seeing broken pics .

Ahhh OK! Sorry for being such a n00b but your right on about the hotlinking. I was just told that someone was tring to be hepful and they turned off hotlinking in the host pref.'s. lol I feel prety dumb...it's the simple things that always drive you crazy I guess cause you think, nah it can't be that...it has to be something bigger.
It will take effect within 24 hours it says but hoepfully sooner than later! Thanks thoough for answering and not just saying GFY N00b! Take care! |
