Buying Content & 2257 Regs

I'm sure its been asked countless times, but if someone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm going to buy some content sets for some galleries I plan to make, but first, I need to know what I must have for the content from a legal standpoint.

Do I need the 2257 docs myself or do I only have to link to the producer from the created gallery?

Thanks,
c-lo

Technically it would depend on what district you live in and whether or not you are a member of the FSC. In other words, consult an attorney.

Oh, I assumed that the regulations pertaining to content for galleries would have been the same for all US webmasters...

I was hoping I wouldn't have to consult an attorney...but thanks for the input, Lycanthrope.

So, where are all the gallery builders to give their 2 cents?

I've seen numerous 2257 discussions/debates in the past...surely someone has to know...

I thought this would be an easy one...

Anyway, thanks for the tip, gooddomains.

It's really quite simple...If you are live in the US, get all the documentation from the content supplier. He no supplies, you don't buy. How complex is that and you don't need a fucking lawyer to tell you this.

If you aren't a yank and live outside the states...Who really gives a shit, but still get the documentation incase the US laws spread to be of a uniform standard.

Any further interpretation on this?

A perfect example why people should NOT ask for advice here.

Of course you get the docs.. but that was but a small part of his question.

Thanks lyn, that's closer to what I was looking for.

I'm aware that I'd need to at least know where the docs for the model(s) can be found, I just don't know if I need a copy for myself or if putting a 2257 link at the bottom of the gallery linking to the content provider's website will be enough.

Thanks for trying to clarify. I really do appreciate you guys trying to help.

Well, maybe my question came off too specific...all I really need to know is:

When I create galleries using purchased content, must I keep a copy of the 2257 docs, too or will a link from my gallery to the producer's website suffice?

Thanks,
c-lo

Okay, I'll play it safe & keep a backup AND link to the producers docs. (?)

Still lookin for advice if you know what you're talkin about.

Thanks,
c-lo

sorry, but this is not quite correct. you can also buy content to build galleries that does not show explicit nudity and is therefore exempt from 2257
then you don't need any papers

If the Images were produced prior to July 3, 1995 you don't need documentation according to 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2257. If they were produced after you should have a copy to be on the safe side. If you live and host your servers outside US, are not a US citizen and do not promote US programs on the gallery then there is no real need for the docs at the moment, but get them anyway.

Have Digital Copies in your possession and on the main domain that you are posting from. Docs to have: 2257 Documentation (Producer will have), Hi res color photo of state/federal issued id, and a color hi res photo of model holding said I.D. As well another federal/state form helps but in most cases is not required. These are words from my lawyer, Call it free advice. =)

Wow, thanks guys...I thought this thread was just about dead.

Really appreciate all the advice. I plan to play it extra safe, gov regs scare the shit out of me.

Thanks,
c-lo
