I think your right .. it may take a jump out of the box but then will crash ... they have a lot of debt and non of the big institutions have any interest. That's not a good sign..

The cable companies will own the VOIP market, there is no room for indie providers like Vonage, they simply cannot compete. Skype is offering VOIP services for $0. As for the cable companies, people like the convenience of a single bill for internet, cable and phone. Plus, the cable companies offer pretty good discounts for bundled services.

vonage is cheaper then the cable VOIP.

People do care. And if you factor in the cost savings when you bundle TV and internet, the difference disappears. Plus, with the cable companies, the man shows up in the truck and does everything for you. With companies like Vonage, you can't be a total moron because you have to install it yourself. There are lots of total morons out there.

and with vonage dont you need to have a landline from a local provider as well as dsl service then pay vonage their fee?

If this is true then it sounds like the cable companies will have a much better pricing scheme then having to pay for 3 services

To say I'm abit annoyed over vonage is an understatement. No quick pop like I hoped, but that's part of the game. I put in for what I could risk to lose.

No. With VoIP you don't need a land line at all. it's called Voice over INTERNET Protical. If you have internet through cable you certaily don't need to pay the local phone company anything. Charter has VoIP but it's $40. what a rip off. I can get Packet8 with tax and all for $23 total.
