Good point. Still, the way it's described on the AGB website makes it seem rather different:

*Stealth Mode: This is one of our most ambitious features to date. Some smaller sites that make RSS feeds available do not realize they are making their content available for other sites to use legally. They sometimes ask to remove content that you have pulled from them. With this feature you can show a custom "removed" link human readers will see, while Google, and the sitemapper continues to see the original article text.

Yeah, I wish that text would change so people don't get the idea. That was something the old coder added (he's no longer with the company, from what I understand).

They are stealing entire BLOGS you can call it RSS FEEDS all you want but its still part of the webmasters site they are STEALING from and they also just go in and change the affiliate codes to their own after they rip your entire blog.. I guess in another thread they are also cloaking the RSS feeds for the SE's. THANKS GUYS for taking all OUR HARD WORK RIPPING it for your OWN USE.

It's a great plugin but you do realize that this is completely ineffective now with the new rewriter? As I stated earlier I don't like that rewriter can be used to change/remove anything from a post, but this is in a post.

nastynun 05-23-2006 09:16 PM

This info should also help you in getting your STOLEN COPYRIGHTED RSS FEEDS removed from the lazy asses I mean urr "autobloggerpro" users who are using these "features". Google will also remove it.

It's more for legality issues, not so much to fill the post.

Btw, your idea that webmasters are responsible for not getting ripped off is ridiculous. With that kind of reasoning, you can justify the stealing of designs, content, everything. When something is intended for the public, it's always easy to steal. The point is that stealing is illegal and immoral.

i think you missed my last post... i HATE thiefs. but yes, webmasters do have some control when it comes to stealing. we all know that some people are going to steal, its life as sad as it may be.. thats all i meant....

Yeah, I saw your post only when I already had made mine. And you're right, people are going to steal no matter what.

Hey, cocklips, would you mind not being such an asshat, and painting with such a broad brush?

There are plenty of hard working ABP users like myself -- and I guarantee I make more on my 1099's than you do on yours, writing your own content. In fact, if you pick a neutral third party, I'll send them $20,000, you send them $20,000, and we'll both send our tax returns from last year. Highest return takes the $40,000 total. Deal?

ABP, to date, has sold over 3,500 liceneses. Most of those are to people who own large blog networks, who want to dynamically relink and rewrite content, pulling from their own networks.

You're an absolute scumbag if you paint with a broad brush like that.

i think its like writing an essay, refer the source but also be able to modify the content outside of what was posted.

Don't be so sterotypical, I'd expect more from someone who is in the Adult industry.

There are reasons we added the functionality that rewriter has, it wasn't to rewrite other peoples affiliate codes, it was to allow you to have one source of content and manipulate it across a network of sites. If you have 500 blog sites do you really want to do 500+ unique posts a day? No. with rewriter you can jumble data around so you simply use one source, but have 500 differen't posts.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to talk to some programers over at wordpress and see what they can come up with. Maybe this is a good story for Wired News. Some of you fucks have been stealing from a lot of my blogs I hate how lazy some of you are.

What if someone just went in and ripped out an entire members area all their photos and text then put it up on a blog is that legal?

That might have been what you intended it for but that's NOT what its being used for.

This issue made the front page of the Boston Globe last weekend. Steps are already underway to protect bloggers as blogs get more popular.

The internet was not intended for people to break into eachothers servers, but it happens now doesn't it. Hunting rifles are meant to hunt animals, not kill people, but it happens as well. You going to go blame gun shops now as well?

It's going to be to hard to protect against. It's like setting a hot plate of food on your porch and yelling at stray cats for eating it.

ya lets not blame big tobacco either for killing millions of people. i mean they only provide the product.

i have never understood why people here praise a program that uses other peoples content in order to increase their sales and SERP results.

especially when 90% of the feeds come from the unknowing

Are you a real person? Sometimes, I feel like your posts should be sponsored by the letter "D" and the number "4" or something.

No one is saying that stealing is good.

I understand that you cry a lot (and would love some stock in the store that sells Kleenex in your town), but this is almost ridiculous.

How can you say that the two are the same? Most of the time, I contact feed owners BEFORE I do the syndication, and they're in love with me for listing their sites. Extra traffic, PR, new visitors they wouldn't have had ...

... and the ones who DON'T want their stuff pulled? I don't pull it. They're small-timers anyway.

I've never seen an adult pound their feet on the floor and let the tears flow like you are in my life!

EDIT: Typo fixed.

It's all in how you use it. I use places that offer free RSS feeds.

I love to see you defend software that rips out entire members sites and say the same thing. How would you like it if you own a members site and I owned software that will rip it out and build the pages, upload them for FREE that would be ok right? I mean what do you think a lot of these webmasters are doing with this program? You think they are all using it just for their networks? Hell no.

I'm sure he is very well aware of what a lot of people use the software for as in RIPPING ENTIRE BLOGS and cloaking.

But you are right can't blame the guy who wrote it. He is just trying to make his $ not his problem what webmasters do with it.. Bottom line is money who cares right?

Have a good night boys. :thumbsup

It's in how you use it. If you pull crap content, you get crap content. Those that know how to use it don't often jump on this board, they are the ones that are running 500+ blogs using ABP with their own content, altering it like i mentioned earlier, and are making a significant income.

Not too much "upstairs" for this guy, I think. And I bet if you saw his site, it'd be NOTHING you'd ever pull in a million years, because it'd suck.

Chio The Pirate 05-23-2006 09:40 PM

*sigh* There are obviously two camps here. People that use it responsibly, people that don't. People that like being syndicated, some that don't.

The fact is when used as intended ABP is a tool that does what it's supposed to, and does it well.

If you run a blog, and someone pulls it using ABP contact the site owner and ask that it's removed.

End of story.

Your laughter sounds strangely like crying, if you ask me.

I think the people who do this are scum, too. But you're painting all AutoBlogger Pro users are people who do this, and that's fairly retarded.

I guess I just have to say: cry more, noob!

WIRED NEWS, MAY 23rd, 2006

People are stealing shit from the blogs of a man who runs them from his mother's basement!

And now, for commentary on this sad issue, we turn to some idiot with 100 posts on GFY.

Wired News: Some Idiot, we hear you're pretty irate here!

Some Idiot: I'm crying, too. Don't forget crying.

WN: What are you so upset over?

SI: Well, it's hard for people to tell. I just keep ranting and raving, and making almost no sense.

WN: And why would a publication like ours talk to a complete nobody like you?

SI: They wouldn't.

WN: I guess we're done here, then! Have my hanky, it looks like you'll need it.

Nope. You are confused. In that thread I simply was commenting on your obvious bias to Autoblogger Pro to which at the time you responded with " I have no affiliation, I don't even make money from referrals " or something to that effect. Then 2 weeks later that changed...

but I'm not here to take sides.

Autoblogger Pro if used in the way you described can be a good thing for both author and 3rd party publishers.

But from what I hear Autoblogger Pro makes it possible for people to abuse it.
