I got it in the store in Columbus. It seemed like there weren't may though, the lady picked the last one from the stock room.

What an incredible machine. I still have a hard time believing how cool it is. The $2800 were well spent.

I got a plugin for my mac but can't remember where I got it. If you do a search on Yahoo for windows media plugin for quicktime there is one result that pops up called Flip4Mac and I think that's what I got. I can play .wma and .wmv file right in Safari. Hope that helps...

I love everything about my Mac and yes Safari kicks some serious ass. I like how when you hook something up to a Mac it just works. No searching and installing drivers like on a PC. Like they say, once you go Mac, you never go back. Okay, no one really says that but what the hell, maybe they will now.

You can use any USB mouse. If that's your only worry, it's a silly one.

I had one, used it. Found it nice enough. Unix framework made it ok for java programming etc, but .. dunno.

I think (even more now w/ intel under the hood) using macs nowaays is a preference only: In the pat you were definitely one or the other, now you just choose which OS / hardware you prefer.

Until I can boot XP natively without OS/X on the system at all, I'll stick to windows machines

Thats called BootCamp and it works like a charm:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

Though the best alternative is to run XP (natively) in a MacOSX window just when you need it through virtualization:

You running photoshop from rosetta? I am curious what the speed is like with non-native apps. My whole workflow is Photoshop and Final Cut, cant make the jump to the intel machine if there is a speed issue.

From what I read, there is an Intel native Photoshop compilation out already. No need for Rosetta anymore. Other than that, the apps that do run their PPC code on the emulator, don't seem to be slow at all.

Overheating? Not really. Then again I haven't had it for long enough to give you a precise analysis... I'll have to work with it longer to see how it behaves under full load.
