NATS - strange stats

I had a thread a bit ago regarding this and it seems to keep happening.. cant seem to understand whats going on..

Why do the raws jump around like that day 2 day across all nats preogram i use.. ?

Does this happen to you.. ? Look at the numbers above , todays raws are like twice what they were last week but the uniques are about the same ..

If you run alot of hits to nats sponsor please go look at a few of them and see if you notice the same trend please ?

or even if you only use one nats sponsor ( that counts raws ) , post this last weeks raws/uniques

A week or so ago I noticed the raws more than quadruple while uniques stayed pretty consistent with one particular program.

well in another thread someone mentioned something about a nats upgrade that could have caused it once, but im talking about a repeated trend of this..

It might not be nats at all it could be my traffic for some reason , but i seriously doubt it. most of that traffic is either tgp or se so it doesnt make much sense to me to have such an influx in just raws.. only thing i could think of is a huge influx in foregin traffic on certain days that gets redirected thus not counting as a unique but i notice no such trend in my server stats suggesting this is happening

In some nats sponsors they have the raw column showing 1st page and uniques showing 2nd/join page. ask the sponsor what they are showing.

doesnt matter what order they are showing look at the difference in numbers

double the raws = less uniques ?? if this happened once i might just assume a spike in shitty traffic but it happens every week..

Heres another theory i have.. Maybe its google crawling through my links , once a week .. and the re-crawling internal ref links

Those stats average out about right.

We don't use NATS but that ratio is very inline with ours.

As far as the fluctuations, every day can not be the same. Then I would worry.

Different galleries and different advertising techniques create different unique to raw stats.

For example: A clean gallery will produce less raws to uniques versus a very aggressive gallery which will create more raws.

Its the same kinda situation for my traffic as well, and I have no idea why there would be so many raws.

Perhaps your sales technique is so good that people keep coming back and back again

Did a quick check of a few different sponsors and raws/unique ratio is pretty much the same across the board.

smokey I have notified nats of this problem, they have been workin on it, I will call them again tomo about it

If you have a a lot of pages with links on them it could be Googlebot, etc.

One of the latest projects I was working onm I was paying particularly close attention to logs, outclicks, and sponsor stats. The only clicks in this campaign were coming from Googlebot and MSNbot, and the sponsor was registering every click.

of course no day can be the same , and if you take the weeks average no it doesnt look strange if all your looking for is unique versus raw, that has nothing to do with it..

Look at the first day look at the last day , if my traffic is the same how do i end up with TWICE the raws from one day to the next every week and the same amount of uniques . The average for the week has nothing to do with the question really , its about why from day 2 day it changes s.

notice that even though the raw is consistantly much larger than the uniques, the proportions are not consistant

on 5/16 raw:unique ratio was 15.5:1
on 5/21 raw:unique ratio is 24.7:1
even though both days are reporting similar quantities of raw traffic the unique % is vastly different

btw this is the only NATS program I've noticed it on

Thats what im talking about .. 15.5 to 24.7 is not a normal influx unless your promoting the product differently on those days or it only happens once.

my promotion methods did not change; the traffic from my sites was consistent on other sponsors during that same interval

same exact trend . roughy 3 times the raw to unique ratios for the 21'st compared to the 16th

The raws have to be 1st page and the uniques 2nd page. (or you have a lot of blind links in your advertising methods)

A 50% fluctuation in uniques is a tad high, but it does happen.

What was the same about it?


My guess is your traffic was not the same. Maybe on the 21st you had more blind traffic coming in versus on the 16th.

i definatley think its that.
i looked through my stats and didnt notice anything unusual.

thats why i keep explaining its not just this week its 2 days out of every week.. my traffic comes from se's / tgp , it doesnt fluictuate like that . if it did i would notice it on my server and i see no such fluctuations.. i.e. my server raws for the 21'st = same as 16th . not 3 times as much as noted in stats..
