I have a deal for you Alien. I want you to do some banners for me, for a site i am working on. I will pay you for the banners only if i use them and not until the site launches. IF everyone on GFY thinks the banners suck I wont use them nor will i pay you. Don't worry it wont be any skin off your back they will be pretty generic banners and you can just change the name on them and sell them to anyone else. Oh and if use them and you bitch about it on here i wont pay you either. No matter what i will still put the banners on my main webmaster site even if i don't use them for advertising and even if i don't pay you.

I promoted the tune here on GFY gave em props on the tune and everything!
The tune still sits on my server within a demo clip that I showed everyone. He not asked me to take it down. Why not? Because it helps em.

The tune got turned down for the project however, but even then at that point I was gonna pay em, he just had to be patient.

He has enough saved dialogue between you two to constitute a binding agreement, one that he could easily enforce and win should he decide to. He seems like a nice guy as he hasn't badmouthed you, just wants to be paid. He offered you to settle and pay him half, you won't even do that.
