Do people actually spend thier time worrying about shit like this? I mean really, who the fuck cares? Do you live your life for you or for everyone else? If your job makes you happy and provides what you want, thats all that matters, fuck what everyone else thinks.

It matters, because it has actual effects on the daily lives of most people. For example, it determines what types of jobs people can get, how much money they will make, what chances people get in life, etc.

I think class also has to do with going to museums, enjoying art, wine tastings and things of that nature. Anyone can go to Paris on vacation, but if all you do is go clubbing that's not really "high class", someone more cultured
would go to the Louvre... etc

Your right that it does have to do with the people you associate. If you go to those boarding/prep schools for rich kids your more likely to mingle with kids of politicians, etc...

I think class also has to do with knowing which fork to use and how to properly set your fork. I guess I'm low class cause I was never even taught that properly. My friend told me that he can tell someone's breeding by how they place their fork, you don't just place it on the plate... It has to be pointed a certain way and put on the correct section of the plate...

so in order to have 'class', someone has to fake an interest in boring shit like wine tasting? altering ones tastes and likes to fit into a social class has got to be one of the most pathetic things, why not just be yourself? i guess if you want to play the 'game' and leave a generally fake life i guess you could be someone you aren't and even fool yourself and maybe you would be more successful for it, but you're still living a lie.

the whole placing of your fork seems obsessive compulsive to the max.

nancycash(dot)com 06-07-2006 11:21 AM

out of any class - my opinion.

Zarathustra 06-07-2006 11:24 AM

if you have to worry about what class you belong to then you have issues

exactly i dont understand why everybody finds this "interesting"? Its bullshit of the purest form.

Zarathustra 06-07-2006 11:30 AM

the only time you have to worry about class in when you're brown-nosing and if your life revolves around brown-nosing and saying things like "that cup of tea was equisite" to impress someone then you really deserve to be put down :1orglaugh

G-Rotica 06-07-2006 12:48 PM

webmasters have no class

Jon Clark - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-07-2006 01:09 PM

sig spot, lol

SleazyDream 06-07-2006 01:19 PM

your class is determined by the people you associate with and how they respect you - not by what some reporter says it is.

There may be $$$ mixed into class - but sure as hell $$$'s alone don't make "class" - often the opposite.

Can think of two people who have no more money than the "average Joe" (OK.. maybe a little more), - both are highly respected by almost everyone they meet. They both came from nothing, but are recognised internationally for the work they have done in their respective fields.

Class is about "who you are" as an individual - not some phoney wannabees who like to think of themselves as being in X class.

I agree. But then this goes with all the other stuff you have to deal with at shows specifically when someone tells you they have x hits and they make x money. Take the number and divide by 4 usually gives you the correct number.

I think class only matters if you are dating and trying to get the girls that like affluent men/women.

Cant we all just get along ? heheh

The hits/money stuff at shows are exhibitions of business amateurism - basically walking personality defects trying to be relevent. It's a reflection of this biz where a lot of new folks come along.

Truth is majority of people who are running a serious biz and earning, don't mouth around how much they earn or about X hits - they keep their mouths shut. Most of them rarely, if ever, visit GFY - tho maybe to dump some promo.

Only me, but hits ya in the face when you chat to "normal" people - don't matter a damn how much they earn or what their hits are. It's just refreshing to chat with em :)

Why the bump?

Rochard 06-07-2006 02:15 PM

Social classes have changed.

I'm a WWII fan, and the one thing I've noticed about this time period is that all of the "big players" went to the same handful of schools and knew each other before they became important. For example, Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt dated the same woman in their youth because they "ran in the same social circles".

But the classes has changed. While the old school play polo and have summer houses in Boston or Florida, the new classes would rather buy a summer house in Montana or Mexico. The new class could care less about how others view them and do what they want.

Speaking of social classes, did anyone know that Anderson Cooper from CNN is a Vanderbilt child?

YEP, I knew that.. He apparently comes from very "old" money... I heard the older the money the better. Like if your parents came here on the freakin Mayflower or whatever in the 16th century then you're considered really "old money" (hopefully if your family has money.)

Polish Aristocrat you are very naughty to bump this thread. So are you really blue blooded and an aristocrat? Did your parents send you to boarding school and teach you which fork to use and where to place it exactly?
