ADSENSE -- can it be put on non-adult dating sites?

how far can this be pushed?

for example, i have some feeder pages that contain NO ADULT CONTENT, not even adult text and are linked to a join page for a site that has a non-adult area and an adult section.

it's this linking that bothers me.

how far have you pushed adsense TOS regarding this mannor?

Its difficult - I have always thought that cleaning the traffic we can get in Adult into mainstream traffic really is the way to go. Its just very difficult to judge when dealing with mainstream how far is too far.

The only thing I can say is that Adsense is good at picking up Adult - they will show a community banner if they are unsure. You can also set it up to show anther banner if you want instead of the community one. That may make it better for you if they start to look at your sites.

The other problem of course is it depends on who you get, from Google, to look at the site. One man's XXX is another man's PG.

This is the sort of thing that nobody really knows for sure - Google keep it secret for good reason.

At a guess I would say there is no 'you will be reviewed evry 6 months' answer - I think you would need to be flagged for some reason, either by the system or from a complaint.

BTW - never assume that because you have been doing something for ages that it is ok - you just havnt been noticed yet.

You can always ask them of course - but then you run the risk of loosing the revenue stream if they 'no'.

hello, i understand you do not allow adsense to be placed on a page which contains adult or mature content. would it be acceptable to place adsense on a non-adult, non-mature page but happens to contains outside links to adult sites?

thanks

"Thanks for your interest in Google AdSense.

I understand you have a question about displaying Google ads on non-adult pages with links to adult sites. I want to emphasize that we currently do not run paid Google ads on web pages that are determined to contain potentially mature or adult content links by our automatic contextual advertising system. It is possible that the ads appearing on such pages will be public service ads, for which publishers do not receive earnings.

Given that, until your website passes through our review process, we can't say whether it would be a good fit for AdSense. The quickest way to find that out is to submit your website for review by completing an application at https://www.google.com/adsense/application-1. I'm happy to let you know that our online review process takes only 2-3 days, and you won't be obligated in any way.

We look forward to receiving your application."

based on that response, plentyoffish.com is breaking the rules, breaking the rulez

Hello, according to Rajiv who replied to my question regarding whether adsense can be displayed on a site that contains outbound links to adult/mature content links, he states google does not allow this. His quoted response is shown below for reference.

Therefore I am reporting that plentyoffish.com is violating adsense policies by containing an adult/mature outbound link in the sites footer.

Thank you,
Joe

For reference is the message Rajiv sent:

People can use Adwords to promote their adult related sites though right?

Where does Google put these ads?

Wow, you just reported a site that not only uses Adsense for revenue but spends a lot on Adwords campaigns.

plentyoffish.com has spent over $100,000 on Adwords.

Not sure whether Google will be pulling out the banning stick any time soon.

I think picking on plentyoffish won't get you to far.

Check out matchdoctor.com 6 year old Free dating site, adsense on every page except homepage. Massive ad for an adult dating service on there. DHTML menu that drops down over the ads and makes you accidently click on them all the time. Log into the site and a splash screen full of ads pops up for 5 seconds. If you aren't careful you will likely click on them. Surf around and you will have a hard time finding a rule they don't break. Unlike plentyoffish which has only a link to an internal splash page. matchdoctor has a link to the adult dating site on every single page.

Thanks for your email regarding Google AdSense policies.

As you might know, Google AdSense specialists review websites for a variety of criteria, including site content, navigation, and functionality, among other requirements.

I understand that you've noticed www.plentyoffish.com is displaying Google ads. Because we respect the confidentiality of all publishers, we cannot disclose any additional details of our relationships with other sites.

However, I thank you for your feedback regarding the quality of this website. I have forwarded your finding to our team of specialists for further investigation.

I can't say whether any site would be a good fit for AdSense, until it passes through our review process. If you manage your own site, I encourage you to submit an application at https://www.google.com/adsense/app-single-1 . There's no cost or obligation, and our review period takes just 2-3 days. If your application is approved, you can easily set up your account and start displaying Google ads and AdSense for search within minutes.

We look forward to receiving your application.

For additional questions, we suggest you visit our AdSense Help Center at https://www.google.com/support/adsense . If you're unable to find an answer to your question on our site, please feel free to reply to this email.

Sincerely,

Rajiv
The Google AdSense Team
