Mailing not accepted...

Getting through spam filters is not the only problem. The biggest problem
is that mailing is not accepted in this industry.

And I wonder why?

I'm talking opt-ins here. If they ask for it, why not give it
to them? And I'm not talking spamming, I run a seriously
run newsletter with content.

What's your opinion on this issue?

Every spammer living on the third planet nearest to our sun claims their list is opt-in. That's the problem.

People don't like it because they get spam as webmasters. If every webmaster had never recieved a piece of spam, they wouldn't care.

It's the not in my back yard, everyone is fine with it until it happens to them.

Exactly.

Because I join a sponsor program, am I automatically registered for shitty stock market spam? = No.
Because I joined a website and thoughtfully never checked the "send me shitty email" checkbox that wasn't there, am I automatically registered for shitty mortgage spam? = No.
Because I entered my email address on some sketchy website, am I automatically registered to receive shitty spam that I didn't know about? = Probably.

In my opinion, if you're constantly sending mass emails out, you're a fucking spammer. I don't give a shit how you justify it. You're lower than the fucking bacteria living under the dirt at the bottom of the deepest ocean trench.

And making money at it. You also run the risk of being labeled a spammer! Pepople are going to complain about you to sponsors, the government, their moms and so on. Next thing you know you're domain is on a spammers list. Your accounts are closed by the major sponsors.....

Fight the spam!

the media has made spam such a buzz word people just can't wait to yell it out and accuse. people seem to call every email except personal correspondence spam.

you'll get complaints, be it opt in or not. until people realize getting commercial emails is just another part of life, sponsors will tend to shy away from it because it causes complaint and publicity problems. and there are a lot of people who will take advantage of a program that allows mailing and send harvested emails via proxies which can get the sponsor in a boatload of trouble. though, if not for the laws i think a lot more sponsors wouldn't care how you send mail. no one likes paying half a million in fines to the ftc.

It is not easy to send spam today. Banned IP, and the problems. I could be sending 100k to guys who opt in to a dating site list.. but I don't send one email to them..
