Allelua! Found whats wrong with one of my computers wee!

I got random crashing, partition errors, restarts..

Tried everything, ram, motherboard, cooling, re-installing the OS etc. nothing! 2 days wasted. And I'm not a noob in the area, been fiddling with this since 1992.

Heh you know what the problem was? Well, this motherboard shipped with one of those neat rounded cables for the hard drive, instead of the old flat ones that kinda blocked air-flow. Turns out, this included cable in the package was 40 wire one, like the ones used in the past. The bloody thing was 40 wires! Bloody cheap fucks

Replaced it with regular 80 wire one and all is fine now.

Now, this isn't a simple oversight. The cable was working perfectly, and because it's shielded with plastic wrap, one can't notice how much wires it has.

same happened to me last week, one of my PCs started freezing once a day, tthen once every two hours and so on

I killed every single fuckware, greyware, and suspicious software that was installed, uninstalled all the programs that I didn't need, updated all the drivers, removed HDs one by one (had two on that PC), removed RAM, network card etc, and while I was still wondering if it was software or hardware problem smoke started coming out of the box and the motherboard blew

moral of the story - if there's smoke coming out of your PC it's not a software problem ;)
