The founders of this country would be horrified by the power the US Government has in today's world.

It has clearly become a power unto itself.

It will be interesting to see what happens next when the Democrats take control of the House and Senate again.

Not that they're any better than Republicans. But its going to be a fiasco to be sure and I'm sure they are going to go after the executive branch's abuses big time, and probably go for an impeachment on Bush too.

The one positive thing history has taught us though is that no matter how big or powerful the empire, when they abuse the people eventually the empire fails and crumbles.
